Interesting book on the Vikings, coming to OMM in 2-3 weeks, called VIKING WEAPONS AND COMBAT TECHNIQUES by William R. Short. The author and his colleagues at Hurstwic, a Viking-Age living history group, have reconstructed the various techniques. Copiously illustrated, battle maps, biblio, index. 1vol, 232pgs 2009 US, WESTHOLME PUBLISING dj $35 USD Dennis from OMM onmilitarymatters.com |

You know, this must be some sort of kizmet, as I just started painting up some Vikings for a game at the end of January. Wish i didn't have to wait a couple of weeks for it to come in though! |

Interesting book, by the sounds of it. |

Sounds interesting, although I am always sceptical about books that claim to reconstruct ancient techniques (don't get me started about the chap that told me his group was reconstructing the Germanic sword dance!). Still, I bet it finds its way onto my bookshelf sooner rather than later. I am a sucker for anything Viking. :-) |
