I play Monster Island so I'm always on the lookout for figures that can be use in our games.

I've been looking for a awesome plant kaiju for about 2 years now. Here he is…
picture
He's listed as a Stormrage Shambler.

While browsing around in there I also found a new Kazan (living lava kaiju)…

He's listed as a Magma Brute. I had a miniature version of the Fantastic Four's Thing being Kazan… this is his replacement.

Kampfgruppe Cottrell turned me on to these guys. His advice was this…

Look thru the galleries till you find a cool fig, use it's name as a search on eBay (D&D name-of-creature-here), get it dirt cheap. ;-)

Although they're mostly fantasy, there are many great kaiju looking critters.

So far I've gotten 9 great miniatures to use for my various gaming fun (pulp, horror, fantasy, & kaiju).

The miniatures come in various sizes but they show them to scale. What I did was hold up one of my 28mm minis up and guesstimated if the miniature in question was large enough to scale into my other kaijus.

I have found a variety of toys for use with Giant Monster Rampage many of them at cheap prices. The D&D minis look great but they can be costly for some of the rarer figures.

I've been lucky in the fact that all the ones I've needed/wanted have been, except when I buy more than one, under $5… and that's including the shipping and handling.

The miniatures I've been using range from 1.5 to 3 inches tall. They're a mix of Bandai (spelling?), Yu-Gi-Ho, WizKids Mechwarrior, and various other sources (zoos & yard sales).

What all have you been using for GMR?

We play Monster Island once in a while, mostly using my collection of Bandai kaiju model kits… which look great up against 6mm tanks and infantry.

I started out using the 6" Bandai Godzilla/Gamera/Ultraman kaiju figures and eventually moved down to the easier to transport and cheaper 4" hyper size figures. I have been able to find many Ultraman mini figures relatively cheap.

There are many cheap figures I have seen that would make great monsters but I prefer to stick with the actual kaiju.

Once Gormiti is released in the U.S. this spring I'm sure several of those figures will be great additions to kaiju gaming.

I went with the 3 inch Bandai figures because our usual gaming table was small… 4.5 X 3… the good old kitchen table. Although we sometimes play on the livingroom floor too.
The floor can be hazardous because of the two family dogs, Que & Sunny, both of whom are horrors far worst than any kaiju.

Warrenss2 great topic! I have been buying D&D minis for Giant monster Rampage for a while now. I use these on a regular basis. I really like the elemental miniatures.

I got these on Ebay. The most expensive one was $9.50. Well worth the price. I also have a ton of Gashapons, butI paid considerably more for those.

I have ton of Gamera/Godzilla Gashapons. These are some of my favorites.
Below are some modern sculpts of vintage Gamera movies. They are very cool, and are not too pricy on Ebay. I have posted these pics before, but here they are.

Konami also has these Gamera figures.

All these minis are about 3.5 inches tall, and the paint is better than pictured.

Sorry for the late reply. Was out of town for holidays & had no access to a 'puter.

I've also thought about getting some of those D&D elemental miniatures. I have received the Stormrage Shambler & Magma Brute shortly before leaving for my vacation/holiday. They fit to scale very nicely. And the Magma Brute makes a h#ll-of-a-lot better Lava Kaiju than the miniature of the Thing (Ben Grimm) from the Fantastic Four. ;-)

Those Gashapons & Konami look REAL nice!!!

I'd darn near give up a body part for a miniature of that squid-like kaiju at the bottom of the 1st column on the first picture!!! Would you happen to have an extra one around that you could part with? Is it available separately? What's it called?

Thieses11 Jan 2009 1:24 p.m. PST

Warrenss2 (sorry Have not checked this thread in a while.)

The squid Kaiju is called "Viras". He is an old school Gamera creature. I wish I had an extra to trade or even give to you. I only have one of these bad boys.

As stated above these are "modern" sculpts of vintage baddies. So the Viras gashapon from Konami is actually cooler looking than the actual Viras from the film. These do show up on Ebay often. Also I would check Chibigoji toys, or Clawmark toys online.

I use high-grades, monsterpocalypse, D&D, Mechwarrior and anything else that's roughly the right size! You can see some side-by-side comparisons here:
