Here's a battle report of a zombie game we played a little over a week ago (took me a while to write the report being I've been busy lately).

We played a game called The Dead Rise Again. My friend, Skiman, played it at Origins last summer and was hooked. He set up a similar scenario. Like the scenario, he used a mix of HO scale buildings and 1/64 scale cars and figures. The zombies were from the boardgame Zombies. Unfortunately he didn't have them painted in time, so they're all just primed black. I had to poke him a bit about it because he said it would be so easy to paint zombies that small. The Marines were Corgi.

For some reason, when I saw that first photo of the monster truck in the barn I started hearing the A-Team theme song…

Great AAR!

Great Report sounds like a tight and fun game.

Way cool! Do you think that the HO buildings would work with 15mm figs? I have been buying 15mm Rebel Mini's lately. Great figs. Need more builings though.

Thanks,

John

HO buildings should work fine with 15mm.
Technically, it's ~1/100th for the figs compared to 1/87th for the HO buildings – so the buildings would be slightly larger in scale in relation to the figs. But overall, they should work very well together on the table.

I wanted to do very large layouts – entire towns – so I went with HO stuff as opposed to 'O' scale (which is better suited to 28-30mm figs). HO stuff is very inexpensive and easy to find. Plus, 1/64th scale Hotwheels and Matchbox cars are a much closer match to 1/87th HO scale than 1/48th scale 'O' scale stuff.
For my figs I went with 1/64th scale Marines from Corgi, and Zombies from Twilight Creations (makers of the Zombies!!! boardgame. A whole bag of 100 for about $7. USD Sure only one pose, but very inexpensive. Twist or cut off a few arms here or there, and vary the paint jobs, and no one will know :)

Speaking of "Ho" and "O" scale buildings, why is it that we (mini gamers) are still having to pillage train sets to buy buildings?

It seems that the only "modern" buildings designed specifically for 28mm game sthese days are middle east, gothic, or ruins.

Where are the generic apartment blocks or office buildings that would work for any modern country in the world???

And please dont tell me to use card buildings or construct them out of foam or cork, lol.

A Monster Truck is such the anti-zombie conveyance.

Great report. Monster trucks would be a great anti-zombie vehicle. Good cross country, can clear obstacles, and most importantly, you are a long way from the zoms! Come the zombie apocalypse, I want one.

I agree about the buildings. I feel like a prospector when looking for suitable plastic buildings that won't break the bank. ….and just try to find stuff even remotely contemporary…. To find one convenience store or a fast food joint that doesn't look retrofitted from 1928..pipe dreams…
Sorry, the report and the photos were great.
