I just finished this battalion of infantry, painted them as Saintonge. The figures are from flats produced by C.Terana of Paris. No scale creep, they are true 20mm.

I wasn't aware that anyone made 20mm flats. Interesting.

if they're flats then that is one beautiful paint job!
does the manufacturer had a web site?

Thanks, guys !

No, I'm afraid the Monsieur Terana is a gentleman of the old-school sort. He does have e-mail, but that is the full extent of his concessions to the computer age. As with a lot of the small German flats editors, things are done the old-fashioned way to get your figures. I am fortunate enough to have a French friend who assisted with the figure acquisition.

Steve, Great paint job. DAF, 20mm flats are often used in the background of dioramas for perspective, with 30mm figures in the front. These are too well painted to be consigned to the background, however.

Thanks, dbf1676. And very good knowledge of flats. In that application, Glorious Empires is planning figures for a grand diorama of Louis XIV's Siege of Maastricht: 54mm for the foreground, receding towards 30mm and then 20mm.

As wargames figures, I don't think the 20mm flats really caught on. So far as I know, Terana is the only remaining active maker. There's a couple painted sets of 7YW cavalry on the Berliner Zinnfiguren marketplace. They do pop up on eBay now and then. I bought a few sets of Schirmer figures suitable for the 1680's-1690's period, slightly larger than these.

Most memorable was a huge collection of painted Napoleonic wargames units broken up and sold on eBay last year. Mostly French and Russians, 100's of figures. And quite well painted considering the magnitude of it, nicely based and flocked. It can be done, although I guess many would ask, "Why would you want to ?" ;-)

Those are really charming figures; good job! I too did not know that 20mm flats even existed, until now.
