I'm thinking of proposing a line of near-future (sci-fi) Russians for the Eureka "100" club.

My plan would be for these to be compatable/ usable with Copplestone Minis "Neo-Soviets" and "Partisans" as well as AT-43's Red Blok minis. They could also do as a new Warhammer 40k Imperial Guard Unit.

It only takes 150 pre-ordered figures to get the line made. Eureka does some great work in Modern minis so I figure they could make a great Sc-fi line.

So who's in with me? I'm good for 30-40 minis!

I'd be up for those, as long as they are more "Neo-Sov" than "AT-43" (although I'd want to use 'em for AT-43… go figure).

Some models in chemical warfare gear would be cool for that range too.

Good idea!

I'd love some that would be compatible with Copplestone's Neo-Sovs – but in size, as well as style. Eureka's stuff (IIRC) tends to be on the smaller side of 28mm, and Marc's on the larger.

And as much as I like Eureka's work, I'd think we might be better served by having some multi-part/pose plastics of the same thing from Wargames Factory.

Idea submitted to WF.

Nvdoyle and Wehrmacht, thank you for the heads up. I had no idea WF was now taking suggestions for muli-pose sprue pre-orders. I think its one of the best ideas in wargaming I've seen. I would much prefer a multi pose set to static poses.

When the Russians are displayed on the WF page I will pre-order probably about 40 figures worth (not sure how many sprues that will be)to begin with.

Below is the link for anyone else intersted in jumping on board.

Thanks guys:

PS. The cost per sprue is $1 USD each yielding 4-6 minis each.

Getting to 1000 sprues and 100 buyers will be tough but if we get the word out to different Sci-Fi, Modern, and 40K forums it could be doable. I have decided to jump in and order 50 sprues off the bat…please dont tell my wife.

Uesugi Kenshin Supporting Member of TMP01 Dec 2008 7:34 p.m. PST

I went ahead and submitted the request to Eureka as well. I figured that "1000" sprues may never come to be, and Eureka only needs 150 preorders to get produced.

I would suggest anyone interested order from both companies. Remember, you dont get charged…you are just giving them an estimate of how many figures you want.

When the figs are available to pre-order on Eureakas 100 page I will post the news here. They usually get back to me w/in about 24-48 hours.

For Eureka I submitted a request for 3 4-man figure sets and 1 special figure (this can of course be expanded if there are requests for more figure types prior to production!).

Currently I requested:
1 set of 4 riflemen w/ combi assault rifle/ grenade launcher
1 set of heavy weapons (2 SAW machineguns and 2 RPG's)
1 HQ set w/ a Platoon commander, sergeant, medic, and radio man.
I also requsted a sniper figure as a single figure.

Arty crews, tank crews, APC riders, etc…could all be added upon request.

If and when this appears on the WF League page, I will back it.

Does Russia have a near future? grin

Uesugi Kenshin Supporting Member of TMP04 Dec 2008 11:41 a.m. PST

They do if I have anything to say about it!!!

BTW, after speaking w/ Nic from Eureka he decided they were basically too hard a sell and rejected the idea for his 100 club, so its only going to be done by WF (one of these days).

They still are not posted on the WF "others" page buy=t should be shortly. They sent me an email saying they have been swamped w/ requests.

Anyway, my Russians and I appreciate your support.

These have now been posted for pre-order on the Wargames Factory page!

As a matter of interest, have a look at the Eureka Stargrunt ESU Heavy Infantry; the original figure was inspired by a WW2 tank rider mini! And the weapons are very much near future in design. There is an enourmous variety of poses and various heavy weapons options too.

The only drawback may be size as these are 25mm. They are midgets compared to AT43; I have both.

Uesugi Kenshin Supporting Member of TMP04 Jan 2009 7:40 p.m. PST

The WF Russians are at 7% ! A good start. Keep spreading the word. 50% and we get sketches done!!!!

Grey Ronin04 Jan 2009 11:05 p.m. PST

Uesugi, do the Stargrunt ESU HI not take your fancy?

Uesugi Kenshin Supporting Member of TMP05 Jan 2009 12:16 a.m. PST

They are not bad at all. But I just have a little something different in mind.

Uesugi Kenshin Supporting Member of TMP07 Jan 2009 2:03 p.m. PST

14% and made the honourable mention list!

A new near-future weapons sprue has been added as well to spice up your sci-fi conversions:

NF Russians have progressed (slowly) up to 24%. Chugging along and definitely safe from the bucket list as long as it remains upwardly mobile!

If at all interested in these please join the discussion here:

Thanks to all those who have already contributed or booked sprues. Lots of good pics/ ideas posted.

Uesugi Kenshin Supporting Member of TMP03 Sep 2009 3:54 p.m. PST

NF Russians continue their upward movement, now at 34%. Not bad, IMHO, for a somewhat limited scope project. They are now 16% preorders away from having digital renders done.

There is also a possible companion sprue of "Near Future Weapons" submitted, which is currently at 22% ordered.

Long time now visit, holding steady at 34%. Almost within the realm of "possibly being made"!

Any 1 up to making a mini of a valhallan ice warrior using a shovel as hand to hand weapon(suvarov, spetsnaz),while still tossing a grenade or firing a nagant pistol?

sergeis27 Oct 2009 2:37 p.m. PST

Nagant Pistol? Do you mean revolver?
