Hey all,
It will be 25 more days 'til I get Troiani's book on uniforms, so I made a best guess attempts here. Anything glaringly wrong with my first attempts at ACW painting?

thanks!

These are dipped? Which product did you use – they look very good.

avidgamer30 Nov 2008 5:45 p.m. PST

The cartridge box sling is usually black leather or brown leather.

BigJoeDuke30 Nov 2008 5:58 p.m. PST

They are dipped using Minwax Polyshades Tudor, brushed on…cartridge sling box color noted…thanks!!

They look great! Good Job! Second the cartridge box sling color as black.

Hmm…Pretty good….But..

Lol..

Outstanding! Expert use of the dip method. Realistic tones and outstanding sculpts. You are on your way to an amazing ACW confederate army.

Congrats!

After taking another look I must say that those Perry's are quite a talented pair of sculptors.

One other thing… I'd venture to say that the majority of Rebs wore slouch hats rather than Forage caps so next batch go in that direction. Most popular color of hats would be black, light gray, dark gray, dark brown & tan. Stay away from the slouch hats in that box that are 'cowboy hats'. They give you enough in the box to avoid those.

The painting looks great! What color and brand of paint are the pants on the second and third fig from the left?

Highlight/dry brush the socks with a lighter color – look like boots from the photo. Nice paint job – they are nice and like your dip method – gives them a nice campaign look.

I concur, excellent work…

All the paints are a mix of Apple Barrel, Valejo pints, and Citadel inks. All color suggestions noted…thanks for your input!!
