Could my fellow TMP'ers help me with a little advice?
I'm getting together some 1/600th. scale coastal forces, the choice seems to be Skytrex, SDD or PTDockyard. So in your opinion who produces the best models?

Thanks,
Frank

Skytrex – good
SDD – mixed
PTDockyard – don't know

The PT Dockyard vessels are made of resin, and are very nice.

Some do require a bit more work than the metal ones, since you may occasionally have to fill in holes where air bubbles have created small holes in them.

I only have a few SDD boats (MTB's and S-Boats), but of those, they are similar in quality to the Skytrex vessels.

PT Dockyard are nice resin models that have, I understand, been designed to compliment the Skytrex range. I have no experience with SDD. I have some pics of Skytrex and PT Dockyard on this page: link scroll down a bit to find them. If you decide to get some PT Dockyard vessels they're having a sale at the moment: TMP link

PT Dockyard stuff is very nice indeed. A little more work than metal, but worth it as the accuracy of the ships is the best available. Skytrex is good, but some of the ships are a little wonky in terms of what they call them IMO. SDD is fine as well. All three are basically compatible if you stick to one manufacturer for a particular vessel.

We originally stocked Skytrex boats for use with 'Coastal Command' back in the 1980s. Since that time most of the players of our system have shifted to PT Boat Dockyard.

Thank-you for all your replies, I think I'll order from PTDockyard. I've never worked with resin models before so I may be asking for more advice!

You can use modeling putty, and/or superglue to fill in any holes.

Then, sand them flush with fine sandpaper, as needed.

Priming them gray first will help to see any defects, since the white resin they are cast in makes that difficult.

I recommend the PT Dockyard also. All the models I use are from Dave's fine selection :). I have some photos at my Yahoo group. Robert
