I usually take some time over the holiday period to code some improvements for TMP (while business is otherwise slow). If you could get only ONE bit of code out of me this season, what improvement what you most like to see? (New feature? Upgrade to existing feature? Removal of something?) |

I'd like to see the manufacturer's and retailer's directories updated and made more functional as the search engine and directories now are pretty much useless – it is way easier to navigate google's million hits rather than the current directory which doesn't list nearly that which it should. Other than that – a better search engine for forum posts? |

I would like to see the manufacturers profiles being turned over to them for editing like member profiles. It would make them useful and make (eventually) less work for you. And if you're re-writing that module make it all searchable so I can search manufacturers for, say, 15mm ECW

We don't have a retailers directory. As for a Manufacturers Directory update – not sure what you want, can you be more specific? |

Here's a supposedly simple one. Repeat the "back to the front page" TMP logo link at the bottom of topic pages. |
adub74 | 24 Nov 2008 1:00 p.m. PST |
What you REALLY REALLY NEED is a new message indicator to tell me when someone has posted a favorite thread. The number of posts is not sufficient. You can do something as simple as bold the threads that are fully read and leave the threads with new content normal. Please. Give us something to be Thankful for. |
Titchmonster | 24 Nov 2008 1:17 p.m. PST |
I would like to see a retailers directory by country and city as well as city and state for the US. Also, an events calendar like the Newark Irregulars would be a great addition. Thanks, T |

How about a return to the homepage link on every page. Its sometimes quite frustrating ie when you have cast you vote on a poll, that you have to go back a page at a time. |
PygmaelionAgain | 24 Nov 2008 1:22 p.m. PST |
A "subscribe to thread" feaure that allows me to keep track of the threads I've posted to, as well as any others I peek into and "subscribe" to (through the clicking of a button, essentially a null post my my username that gets filtered out on viewing). |
Connard Sage | 24 Nov 2008 1:24 p.m. PST |
How about a return to the homepage link on every page. Click on the TMP banner ^ up there, top left What you REALLY REALLY NEED is a new message indicator to tell me when someone has posted a favorite thread. The number of posts is not sufficient. You can do something as simple as bold the threads that are fully read and leave the threads with new content normal. That would be handy. Or a 'subscribe to' thread function |
Parzival | 24 Nov 2008 1:33 p.m. PST |
I like the new message indicator, particularly if I could mark threads of interest. That way I could look at a list of boards and note which ones have new responses in threads I've chosen to track. My follow up pick to that is an improved search feature that would go across boards and offer the ability to combine search fields— for example, to find all posts by a given member, between specific dates, containing certain words and not containing others, etc.. |
gaiusrabirius | 24 Nov 2008 1:45 p.m. PST |
I'd like a way to give people, or individual posts, a "thumbs up" to reward their contributions. Anyway, I'm grateful for the site, and your continual enhancements. Thank you for asking. |

- Fix the Lounge post Search - Add: Threads I've posted to search, instead of having to do "Search by Author" in three different areas (two of which work) - Include "News Talk" etc. in the search feature - Add: Threads I've read function - Add: Last Post (time and user) to threads |

Please let us limit the length of time a marketplace or exchange board post is visible in the side bar. I don't need to see what people were selling 16 October, thanks. I don't care if it's by number of posts or number of days. Give me a way to get rid of those ancient 'last day' auction notices. Please. Oh, and a way to search hobby news. Edit: I just read the sock puppet thread. I think I want you to distribute whatever the OFM is taking

First of all, let me say THANK YOU for giving us the ability to edit posts! That would have been my first request. :) I think the feature I'd like to see the most is the "Thumbs Up" button suggested by cotedelachevre. That way I can weigh my "Thumbs Up" rating versus my "Stifle" count and figure out if I'm adding value. ;) ADub74: What you REALLY REALLY NEED is a new message indicator to tell me when someone has posted a favorite thread. I may have just figured out how to do this. Go to Message Board Search, search for title '' (that's 2 single quotes). I believe that functions as a wild card -- it appears to return all message board topics, sorted by most recent post. (And capped at 100 items.) My browser (IE6 on this PC) changes the color of any topics I've already looked at, so although it's not my "favorites" list, it's my "this sounds interesting" list. And no coding required! But, Bill, can we have a way to save searches as a link? Flintloque: Allow searches across all boards (message boards/news talk/TMP Plus/etc)
Farstar: Repeat the "back to the front page" TMP logo link at the bottom of topic pages. Parzival:

Ok, how about Mr Ed makes it a bit more obvious to us (me)? In the Website Introduction block, it says Just click on anything that looks interesting – and if you get lost, clicking on our logo will always bring you back to this homepage. Of course, you have to have that configured to show on your home page. |
Dropzonetoe | 24 Nov 2008 8:58 p.m. PST |
Two things that I really think we need. As there are a lot of boards and I often forget what obscure one I was looking at I want a way to just look at links that have fallen off the front page. A one day back link or something like that. The second one just bothers me a lot. Even though I rarely find the need to use them I don't what to have to code in bold text, Italics, Underlines each time I want to use them in a post. It is a hassle to have to manually edit them in.

top 2 items I would like to see as already mentioned by previous posters. 1.Personal post search sorted by date 2.the ability to delete a PM without having to open it. Just tick a box, or a bunch, and hit [DELETE]. One more of my own: a sent box on the PM so I can see what I sent and said should the person respond without quoting my post. Some conversations are hard to keep up without knowing what I responded previously. Thanks Bill for all the great features you have already provided. |

A link to posts I've commented on recently would be useful. Sometimes come across a post, put a comment then can't find it again! It's probably an age thing. |
CeruLucifus | 25 Nov 2008 12:03 p.m. PST |
GarrisonMiniatures: A link to posts I've commented on recently would be useful. Already there but takes a teensy bit more work. Go to Message Boards, enter "GarrisonMiniatures" in the Search field, under Search Type select "authors"
voila! And sorted by most recent reply. |
Coelacanth | 25 Nov 2008 12:15 p.m. PST |
It would be nice if the topics could be organized in a sort of "spreadsheet". For example: "18th Century Books" has two dimensions; Period (18th Century, X-axis) and Subject (Books, Y-axis). There would be no need to reproduce the whole grid on the Index page, just a button to toggle between "Sort by Subject" and "Sort by Period". Obviously, cretain topics would be void (e. g. Medieval Aviation), and others would spread across several periods (Pirates), but on the whole I think it would make browsing topics a bit easier. |

Already there but takes a teensy bit more work. Go to Message Boards, enter "GarrisonMiniatures" in the Search field, under Search Type select "authors"
voila! And sorted by most recent reply. And do it three times. Except the Lounge search function has been broken for months. And you can't search newstalk items you have responded to. Nor Showcase, not to mention Workbench
