what is the point, the battle of style has obviously been lost..a cold sunday morning , to be greeted by an email about the Praetorians saw a rant spew forth but , the battle of style is over..

Eh?

I could go for a hot cafe mocha right about now.

Monstro22 Nov 2008 4:34 p.m. PST

I completely disagree, pirate moustaches and gelled hair were perfectly authentic for praetorians.

I can't decide which of your personalities to side with. I reserve decision until more information is forthcoming.

it was a bit of a silly rave about the "Valiant Guardians" something or other assasins and and the "cool determination" that sort of ….thing…too much to be greeted by on an unseaonally cold November morning..the rave proper can be seen at

Funnily enough it was the Asterix comics that first introduced me to the Roman world when I was 7-8 years old.. so it was this that directly lead me to studying Classics and History at Uni years later..

Still haven't been able to find a historical reference to that secret potion to this day..

Theword, it's called tea, haven't you read Asterix in Britain, 'I say old bean, that's just not on'

Personally I dont care what the box says trying to make definitive statements about any historical unit is impossible take the SS for example loads of hatred out there and loads of appologists, even guys in those units would be unsure.

If anyone at warlord generalises on the boxes thats ok cos theyre not academics theyre making miniatures and doing it superbly.

Im a pro painter and Ive just sent back 4 of these that I painted for Paul at Warlord they are the best on the market, bar none. I get to see a lot of figures and these are the only ones Im using in my armies.

Having said all that I think its great that the anally retentive get a chance to splash their angst all over the net it makes me feel like a superior person!

If you don't want to receive this sort of thing then why not just unsubscribe from their newsletter? It seems a bit masochistic if these guys upset you so much.

Tolcrothlogan – I'm not speaking for Cardinal here, but maybe companies that produce these minis that are based on actual historical events and communities – organisations etc… have a duty of care of sorts to the more vulnerable gamer (i.e. kids that don't know better, or are too young to do real research).

That's not to say I'm right about this.. but considering it takes minimal effort to get a more factual explanation onto the box.. why not get it right?

Maybe the explanation on the box was a simplification for younger gamers?

TW.. too true
