As some of you might have notised I have orderd some rather expencive terrain, it's made for 15mm, and so as I'm spending £500++ on this, I want as much milage out of it. I now have one battle ready Napoleonic force, consisting of a french and britsh divion, I have also some Prussians on layaway from Scalecreep. But I doubt I'll start painting on them any time soon, I have allready decided to get some ACW stuff, but that will be after I pay for the Prussians, altho I'll probebly start painting them before the prussians. I have also thought about 7 year war, while the ACW and Napoleonic are for tactical games for divion size engagements. but with the 7YW stuff I thought about trying grand tactical with whole arimes. Another period I might want to try is ECW or 30YW, but not sure I to do the whole spear thing in 15mm. I don't realy want to go any futher back then that. and I don't want to go any more modern then ACW. any other war from the 1600s to mid 1800s? |

There's always the War of Jenkin's Ear. You can never have too many Bavarian horse grenadier kettle drummers!! |

Well if Napoleonics are your passion. I'd focus on SYW and the conflicts immediately preceding that period. ACW & Crimean War is a whole nuther kettle of fish. Infantry tend to dominate in these conflicts. You can change scales to accommodate these longer rifle ranges. You should also take a look at colonial conflicts. India, North Africa, South America, & Afghanistan (my fav). You can use some of your Napoleonic Brits for some of these conflicts. You might also look at the American Old West. mjc |

SYW can also double for War of the Austrian Succession, if you aren't too fussy about the uniforms. I routinely use SYW figures for WAS battles. |

Yes, WSS and WAS are also things I'm thinking about. ACW is first on the list as I have the rulebook and it's based on the same system as my nappy rules. and ACW is my passion after napoleonic era. but I have found that wargaming is a very effective way of learing about other periods, therefore I'm thinking of doing other periods like 7YW |

All depends on the terrain – if there are lots of fields, streams and forests or if these can be added – try any of the Scandinavian conflicts from 1700-1814, even the 1st Schleswig-Holstein War of 1848 would work and QRF makes figs for this conflict as well. War of 1812 is vaguely Napoleonic and the terrain could be fit to match, also you already have one side, and the Americans of 1814 were small in comparison to some of the bigger European armies, AWI and Mexican-American War fit into the same category with small forces [relatively]. You could also game French Rev. or the Polish Wars of Partition, as the terrain is also fairly unimportant or can be adapted. |

GunF. Couple of thoughts; if you want a different type of game why not look at some of the grand tactical rules sets for your Napoleonics so you don't have to buy and paint yet another army as it seems you've got a lot on your plate already. I'd do something completely different scale and scope wise as that can prevent you from getting bogged down in your painting. I have just two main periods and a few other small collections and tend to feel that for me its more rewarding doing less but in more depth. Both ECW and WSS need lots of cavalry which is expensive and time consuming to paint. But if you really fancy something new WSS is a good one or you could look at the new Liberators in 18mm. Its sort of Naps but in South America. |
