Hello, all.. I'm working on a long overdue project.

Does anyone know where I could find general wagon driver figures, preferably third world types? Believe it or not, I need Tibetan Wagon Drivers. Maybe a conversion?

Also, I could use Children figures. The innocent kind. Victorian, Edwardian, or later periods.

Yes, it's a serious request.

Thanks!

Walt

Andrew,

He is the same person. The creator of the famous/infamous (take your pick) Amish Rake Fight and the various Victorian grand priz races all over the world.

Holy cow, that was so long ago, I forgot I wrote that. Way to go, ME!

I found a big project box the other night, with a box of zombie jockeys (painted by Mexican Jack), some notes, and a bunch of carts pulled by Yacks. I can't believe this one was so close to fruition -- my ADD must have kicked in and I got involved in something else. It happens.

I still don't have really good Tibetan wagon drivers. Does anyone know of a single wagon driver figure anywhere I could get in bulk to do a conversion on?

Also, does anyone sell 28mm pails or buckets?

I'd like to go on record to say that I will convert GW plastic zombies to jockeys for a very reasonable price.

Thank you for your support.

children: WestWindProductions in their gothic horror ranges.
Also Eureka in 19th century civilians 100CLUB.
Both very nice and useful.

Tibetans: Irregular miniatures has some mongols as camel/yak drivers. also mongol camp followers.
I don"t know how a Tibetan driver might look and thus maybe some of their various drivers might pressed to service. usually they sel their minis one by one. Some maybe in sets.
Curtney's miniatures has some mongol camp followers. so maybe here is some potentials.

You might convert some Copplestone Tibetan cavalry.

I would write to various manufacturers of wagons and wagon drivers.
Ask for "free sample" figures, promising that you will not tell where you got them.

Just got some Copplestone yaks and 3 Tibetan drovers (Tibetan Yak Caravan). Lovely men. Poorly cast yaks. The men might convert with moderate conversion skill.

I have a 15mm Irregular Vietnam ox & cart, do they do a 25mm version? Or Westwind? Maybe a head swap? Would have thought that the Chinese in Tibet had wagons but only on the roads whereas the Tibetans would have used Yaks, mules & donkeys with some horses.

Skeptic24 Nov 2008 6:53 p.m. PST

Errm, I understand that, before the 1950s, there were not very many Chinese in Tibet, nor roads, for that matter.

Also, and by way of example, the "Chinese" transported tea from Yunnan to Tibet by horse or mule train, and then by yak train, until the later 20th century and possibly beyond.
