Since Tom has sorted his casting I feel its agood time to ask about Zombies. TMP link A close up is here link What uses are their for these beasties int he traditional zombie genre? Zombies are typically used in lager scales and whilst certain armies have the option for such shambling troops, how to do a game that gets back tot he 'traditional' zombie terror/tactical problems so done to death by the various zombie games out there? |

Hmm. 'Traditional' zombie problems -- well if that includes Plan 9 From Outer Space, then hordes of 6mm zombies cross-polinates well with kaiju games. The human defenders have to contend not only with aliens taking control of Ghidora and other big critters, but also with flying saucers using zombie-rays to convert stands of fleeing civilians into hordes of cannibal zombies. Tactical problems ensue. |

I could see using them in some sort of 6mm Car Wars type game
racing through some ghost town that is full of undead
mowing them down in large numbers
extra peril if your car runs out of gas or crashes and you have to make a run for it.
maybe throw in some dinosaurs as well! |

6mm figures are more often element-based (i.e., the stand is a unit). The logic of an element is that it acts intelligently (i.e., with collective purpose). While "brains!" might give zombies a collective purpose, beyond a fantasy game like Warmaster (where presumably the General figure somehow gives direction to the Zombie hordes) I'm not sure zombies make much sense based as an element. What keeps the "unit" together? Of course, maybe this is just a tabletop convenience. But I think there is likely a reason that zombies games are most often skirmish games in larger scales. Of course, looking for a compelling logic for basing zombies may not make much sense either

Sorry--that sounds more negative than I meant it to. |

I can see having a base of 6mm zombies as in keeping with the genre
they are pretty much a horde of non-individuals who respond in similar ways to the same stimulus
The element is held together by a common motivator (hunger) and a lack of any creative impulse to diverge from the shortest path to the goal (food). In zombie films they mostly attack in massed swarms
at the same front door/window
any single zombie attacks are just happenstance because that zombie hasn't joined up with the horde yet. The survivors/heroes are the ones who are not so easily represented
being as they are individuals who will be inclined to take different paths. Unless they are military
in which case they could share a base. I could see a game with bases of zombies, and the occasional 'zombie king' with leadership qualities (ala Land Of The Dead's zombie leader)
bases of civilians as a resource marker to be eaten/protected
and bases of military/police units. Still, it would be better if they added dinosaurs/superheroes/kaiju |

Hmm, Car Wars sounds nifty – was there not a computer game that featured cars and zombies? Maybe some sort of mad max style set up, with zombieism having consumed all the pedestrians long agpo. Hazards whilst refuling, having crashed, road hazards etc. More fun that oil slicks or black ice :) |

For anyone interested, this thread from the Tactical Command message board has some more detailed pictures of the zombie figures. link The 1st page has them unpainted, 2nd page as them painted. |

For those who haven't seen them, my galleries of individually based zombies and survivors: link I must admit that these have proven somewhat fiddly to play skirmish with. I have considered magnetic bases where I could group individuals. |

That looks sweet. I've thought about larger Zombie battles in 6mm before. You could use 'em as just about any opfor. |

Well all I do is 6mm Sci-fi now. And based on the rules you use, hordes of Zombie stands under the control of say
a Chaos type force or even randomly controlled(die rolls)
is certainly in keeping with most of the media story lines
If nothing else
they'd draw fire
