I give up. After weeks if not months of waiting my Mr. Kit Paints arrived -- or so I thought. Back ordered were three bottles of Pfalz Silber-Grau. I am not going to wait till spring to get these done. It's just a matter of time till the cat gains unauthorized entry and then . . . I have ten 1/72 Pfalz models all primed, cut from the sprues and airbrushed with Tamaya Silver/Chrome -- this is way too shiny. What commercially available paint can I substitute here. Is essentially silver but not too silver -- slightly tending towards gray. Any help appreciated. mjc |

Me,I just used a light gray and painted the spinner and struts red on my Pfalz D-III,a black & red chevron on the top wing(Pointed end forward) and put the first 3 letters of my wife's name on the fuselage. My Aerodrome buds said it looked good. |

Try spraying clear flat over the silver/chrome. it will kill the shine and usually a flat top-coat will lighten the color slightly. |

Tamiya Flat Aluminum. It's main advantage is that it IS a flat metallic. It may be a bit too bright for you, but you can darken it up with another Tamiya Gray. I used it on my 1/72 Pfalz, and my Nieuports. No GW paints will work on flat surfaces, IMHO. |

Hi The real stuff consisted of Clear Dope with 40% aluminum powder added. I have made my own using clear topcoat and powder. But I get a nice effect with most "silver" mixed with a very light grey. Rocky |

Um, maybe P3 gunmetal would work? You might just have to kill the cat
