Okay, Got the bug to try a little 'Bridge to Far' 'Kelly's Hero's' actions. Any suggestions for rules? Also what 25mm company supplies figs in the $1-$1.50 range. Thanks Mike Just trying out the water. |

Thanks Chuck, Just read a couple of reviews of Arc of Fire, look good. Also just noticed that Mexican Jack has a playtest out there, may check that out as well. |

Nuts! from Two Hour Wargames would be a great bet – especially for a "character" driven scenario like Kelly's Heroes. For especially cheap figures, look at some of the 1/72 Forces of Valor painted stuff – you can get it cheap at Wal-Mart or Target

I'll second Nuts for this type of character driven action. Once you get up to platoon level then Rules of Engagement might interest you (available from Brigade Games). |

The WW2 figures from Valiant (plastic, theoretically 1/72 but come out to about 25mm to top of head) are pretty decent. As for rules, I haven't really found a 1:1 set I like yet. Rob |

I prefer Disposable Heroes rules by Iron Ivan. They are fast, fun and deadly (and have a nice flow). Also, in the miniatures dept.,Valiant Miniatures sells 64-68 miniatures in hard plastic that are multi-part and nicely modeled ($20.00 or so per package). One late war german and one brit (or one american pack) will fix you up. They are only 1/72 scale (though a bit bigger than the soft plastic Airfix etc). You could get Forces of Valor tanks and half-tracks or Dragon prepaints in 1/72 scale for your Valiant minis(which look great together IMO). Or you could definitely buy metal minis in 1/72 scale for $1.00 USD to 1.50 or so, I believe. If you wish to go bigger, like 28mm, I like Artizan, Crusader, Black Tree and I have some Battle Honors too (they are a bit small compared to the others). That would be more than the $1 USD to 1.50 price range though (more like $2.00 USD to 3.00 each). Although with 28mm stuff in smaller skirmish games, you could start with a 10 man unit of Germans and 12 man American unit (or similar sized Brit unit). The 28mm soldiers match with nice Corgi tanks and vehicles, or the 1/56 wargaming cast stuff is very nice too (from Company B etc. -you'd have to paint that yourself). Good luck, have fun and play some games at a local shop to see which rules suit your playing style.8^D |

Hmm, how about going with 54mm stuff from 21 Century and Disposable heroes. We are planning an Arnhem game using this stuff. |

Another vote for Nuts! I played it a couple times and stopped looking for modern era skirmish rules. |

A corner of hell by Chris Peers gets my vote. We've had great fun with it at my club. |

Fun with character driven action – NUTS or if you don't like the reaction system try We Can Be Heroes from TFP. |

Here's a free game (MG-42) that shows how the reaction system works. NUTS! is more comprehensive than this but it will still give you an idea of how the mechanics work. PDF link |
