Rooting around, I found that I have somehow acquired a copy of "Dragoon vs. Hussar" by Balboa Games boardgamegeek.com/game/7036 It is unopened and still sealed in shrinkwrap, so I'm loathe to try it out – especially since its not a period I game. But, is it any good or is this one of those better left buried? Wyatt |

I played "Dragoon vs. Hussar" at a con in LA fully 20 years ago, and at the time had a nodding acquantance with Tom Coveney the author. The "Fun" to "Time spent pre-planning and worrying about fiddly details" ratio seemed very low to me. My Hussar rode around on the board trying to get an advantage over any of the enemy cavalrymen. In about two hours of play time I managed to make one saber slash against an opponent, which was ineffective. That said, the author really seemed to know his stuff, and the control system DID work just fine, the game moved along. Chick |
