Thinking about putting together Dunmore's Ethiopian Regiment in 28mm. Looking for options for African/Slave type figures that would fit. I was thinking of starting with some of Foundry's african pirates and maybe Perrys Black militia. Any others options. Thanks |

Try searching TARLETON'S QUARTER blog on the web. Giles Allison has put together a very nice example of this regiment. |

link I would probably do it a bit differently now, although I still think the Foundry pirates are probably the most suitable figures available, until Perry Miniatures make more negro troops. Although there are references to the troops being uniformed, these pirates have the look of runaway slaves about them. The new Osprey on Loyalist Troops has a pic with the "Freedom for Slaves" motto written across the chest (you don't have to buy the book as this pic is on the front cover). One advantage of the Foundry figures is that there is plenty of space to scrawl this across the torso. Giles |

Very nice Giles. What would you do differently? Has anyone tried painting regular militia black? how does that turn out? |

Do not touch the Wavering Rebel Militia. I am halfway through basing mine, and logging onto the blog for inspiration every few hours. Then you go and put up Von Lossbergs Fusiliers, and I am tempted to copy those as well :-) |
