I am after 6mm Royal Navy figures for my Zulu War battles. Baccus produce gun crews but not rifle-armed figures. Any suggestions?

Ask Ian at Irregular if he makes any.

Otherwise join the rest of us in applying steady presure to Peter at Baccus.

It's fun and occasionally he actually listens and sculpts the oddball stuff we ask him for, mind you some times we get something from way in left field, like more Napoleonics…

If you are completely insane you could order a whole bunch of gun crew strips and convert them…(or do head swaps on the rifle armed infantry).

Irregular do naval troops in their 6mm Colonial range. Whilst Baccus cavalry are a head taller than Irregular, the infantry aren't a bad match as the Irregular bases are so much thicker.

Heroics & Ros make a couple Royal Navy packs. I haven't seen these particular packs, but I'm familiar with the general look of H&R figures. They're probably pretty compatible with Baccus. They're cast in strips, and come on fairly thick bases (which can be filed down.) Navwar in the U.K. sells H&R figures, but there are some U.S. distributors too.

My experience is that while nice figures, H&R a small than Baccus… not just shorter.

Martin Rapier20 Nov 2008 5:35 a.m. PST

No, H&R and Baccus don't mix well at all.

I agree with Martin – while H & R do make a Naval Brigade pack as part of their Colonial range, the H & R figures are small and – well, weedy – compared to Baccus figures – certainly could not use on the stand, probably not in the same unit – I have H & R Prussians in my Napoleanic Army and Baccus French and Austrian – I had the Prussians before and I am too cheap to replace them right now, but as noted they would not mix well in the same unit

The only solution is to demand Peter cease his silly preoccupation with making a profit and immediately crank out the stuff I want.

I would like a complete Naval Brigade set of figures because they'd be so useful as other nations folks as well but it really is time for Boxer Rebellion in 6mm which means Boxers, Chinese Regular Army, Kansu Braves, Tigermen and then the requisite turn of the century British, US, French, Japanese, Russian and Italian troops plus a good generic sailor with round cap.

Not a problem if he'd quit messing with such obscure topics as Napoleonics and ACW. evil grin

I agree, the selfish devil

When I was a youngster, and dinosaurs roamed the earth, we converted things. We didn't have too much choice (goes on for 45 pages--)

It was understood that Airfix Confederates made decent naval landing parties with a bit of trimming and a bit of paint.

Times were simpler then.

Use nail clippers to take knapsacks etc off 6mm figures.

Bloody lucky you were to have Airfix plastics. We had rocks to use. To paint them as Brits we had to cut off the tips of our fingers since paint was too expensive.

;-D

Thanks,

John
