What do you think about Old Glory's new 25/28mm painted Zulu line of figures? TomS. |

The ones I saw at Fall In were no better than mediocre. Quick paint job on uninspiring figures. A case of getting what you pay for, really. |

My buddy ordered some (and some of the Romans). I think for the price they are a really good value. If you gave them a brown or black wash they would look even better. |

It looks to me like they will appeal to a small percentage of gamers who focus on the gaming aspect of the hobby. For them it seems like a good value. |

No thanks. I can put a coat of dark flesh on 200-figures and have them done, shields and all, in 48-hours (of course that's 48-hours of actual work timer and not 2-days). And mine look way better. I've got to agree with Mel, uninspiring and mediocre but probably appealing to folks with more money than time to paint. |

To me the quality of the painting seemed the same as a wargamer standard from Fernando or Phil Greg. I bought some to go with my new "freebe" plastic Zulu War Brits from Wargames factory. Which I have lots (96) of now as all of my friends at Fall-In gave me their free sprues |

It has been pointed out to me that I may have mis-identified the photos of pre-painted Zulus on TMP as being those under discussion when in actuality they were somebody else's product. The photo of the Old Glory Zulus is here, scroll down: oldglory25s.com But from a photo with this limited resolution it is difficult to accurately judge the quality of the painting. Whom can post a link to a better closeup high-resolution photo, please? Until then, I withdraw my 'embarassed' comment above, and regret posting it before having more conclusive data. And note, please, that I'm a guy who, after having paid Fernando to paint 100 Redoubt Zulus to 'collector' standard, was so disappointed in THOSE that I quietly dumped them all in the paint stripper and started over painting them myself. Great, Joel just sent me the link to the closeup photos: TMP link The prices are amazing. With the OG discount membership they are startlingly inexpensive. |

I understand the logic of this heroclix philosophy and I think its a wise comercial move from OG as Nycjadie already states its intended for wargamers. Cheaper and faster than buying better quality figures and sending them to a panting service. I'm more a painter than a wargamer so personally I do not like them, the figures are not so good and the painting is not very good either. |

>It has been pointed out to me that I may have mis-identified >the photos of pre-painted Zulus on TMP I made that same mistake. Thanks for the link. Those zulus actually look good. |

In the words of Mexican Jack Squint
.
Anyone who is willing to go to the trouble and expense of offering a new line of model figures to our hobby surely deserves applause rather than derision. |

Senor Aquint is correct as usual. |

It has been brought to my attention that the identity of Mr. Melvin Foogle has been questioned in some quarters. I am happy to admit that Mr. Foogle was a short-lived alternate persona that I chose during a period when I was obliged to use a borrowed computer. Mr. Foogle is no longer with us, and has not been in some while. It should not be assumed that the opinions of Mr. Foogle reflect those of Mexican Jack Squint, the Squint Organization, or any companies associated therewith. We reject in particular, Mr. Foogle's willingness to consider the bizarre possibility (begun, oddly, by Old Glory employees) that the recent line of prepainted figures offered by that company were painted by lepers in India. They were, of course, painted in Pennsylvania. |
