I am planning to get a new terrain mat for a Mogadishu project that I am working on. I think I have it narrowed down to two: Zuzzy or the Terrain Guy. Has anyone painted a Zuzzy mat in desert/arid colors? Which style mat did you use? Has anyone seen the Terrain Guy's Dryland mat? The picture on the site looks very uniform in color. Does it have variations in shade, etc.? Also, I was originally going to get a 4' x 4' mat to use with Ambush Alley, then realized that paying a bit more for a 4' x 6' foot size the mat would be a lot more versatile. Can either of the mats be folded under to create a 4' x 4' playing surface without creating an unsightly bulge or seem? |

I LOVE my Zuzzy mat. Takes paint well and has crisp detail. |

I've seen the Terrain Guy one, and it is indeed pretty uniform. I bought a green mat form him last weekend, and they are tough and durable. I don't forsee having any issue with the color coming off or the thing ripping. |

I've got a Zuzzy mat (Ruined Land) in 4 x 4 size. Not sure how well a 6 x 4 would fold under; I suspect there might be a bit of a bump at the edge where it was folded. It has a nice texture to it, certainly not a uniformly flat texture. I'm not sure how it would look with urban buildings on it, if that's your intention. I'd bought it for fantasy skirmishing, for which the ground texture is great. |

I have three 2x2 Terrain Guy mats and really like them, I have one desert, one brown/grey urban, and one brown/grey urban with small craters. I do not think you could easily fold under a portion of a 4x6 to make a 4x4, but probably could let a couple feet hang over the edge of your table. The Zuzzy stuff looks good on their webpage, but needs painting and I am betting it is heavier than the Terrain Guy mats, which may make a difference. |

I would say theterrainguy.com since I am not a fan of painting a surface the size of a mat with the detail that Zuzzy includes. Zuzzy has great looking mats, just not sure they would look right for Mogadishu. I have six or more mats from theterrainguy and love them. As soon as my buildings arrive from Shawn at Ambush Alley, I get some pictures of them, the Terrainguy desert Mat and the palm trees and fences I completed recently. Jeff |

Zuzzy is great, but if you fold them, and leave them folded fer a few weeks, you will have a problem getting out the crease. But its worth rolling it up! Also they come unpainted, but its not that big of a deal to paint us. It looks like a daunting task, but it goes faster than you think. |
