These are pictures from Kurpfalz Feldherren's grand wargame of the Battle of Pavia 1525, put on in 15mm at the weekend at Crisis and, as promised, put up here

in the THE GAMING TABLES/E.C.W., 30 Year's War, Renaissance section.

In the Italian War of 1521, this Battle was the decisive engagement and is interesting since it's just before the arquebus and caliver start getting replaced by the musket.
Basically the French (and thanks to Wikipedia for provding the narrative) were getting a bit miffed about losing the rich provence of Lombardy to the Spanish empire and had a go at getting it back.

Only to find those pesky Spanish were a little more wiley than they'd barganed.

Hope you like it: I enjoyed watching it, talking to the gamers and admiring all their hard work in putting it together.

Great photographs, and figures too, is Mirabello scratch built?

Very well done. The massed troops look great in that scale.

Beautiful work, I loved the church.

Outstanding. I'm painting up forces for that period myself. But your stuff is head and shoulders over mine. What rules did you use?

Top Gun Ace15 Nov 2008 11:32 a.m. PST

Yes, simply wonderful looking minis and terrain.

Thanks for sharing your photos.

That's terrific. And I like the way you organized the thread, the combination of panoramic shots showing off the buildings/terrain mixed with atmospheric close-ups and historical illustrations. Well done, Cacadores.

'What are the figures / scale?'

Hello,
The figures were just 15mm.

DucDeGueldres22 Nov 2008 9:13 a.m. PST

It was the right scale for this military encounter and they made a great job of it too. Well-done realistic looking terrain as far as this is possible in 15mm scale and the paint job was also very good.
I always look forward to 16th century games, but they are rare on the continent. However with such demo's the period should get a possitive impuls.
Excellent!!!
