link I split the review into five parts so low-speed internet users won't get overwhelmed. I have photos of all the plastic bits in the set, and I have many large, detailed photos of painted and based units. Click on the pictures to get larger images. |

Great review Got an email that the boxs had cleared customs, this mornin', so hope to have 'em by the end of the week ? This gives me a leg up on what to do with 'em. Got the 2fer so ah'll have the colonial brits, too. Might try cutting around the wings on the shield design and put them on the painted shield ? Hate paintin' shield designs Anyhoo, thanks for the excellent review ! Paul |

Thanks for the review, very well done showing both the pro's and con's. My concern had been how well they would paint up and look on the table, not any longer. Having recently gotten away from GW Warhammer & 40K, I'm already use to assembly and miniatures that don't rank up well. The only thing that disapoints me is the lack of extra bitz on the spruce. |

Very interesting, thanks. What was the flash like? Were there any mould lines that you had to get rid off? If so, how did you do it? The removal of flash and mould lines is what has led me to avoid plastic figures like the plague. |

Thanks for brilliant review – this has inspired me to get on with mine. Got mine last Friday. I have assembled a few and painted and "transferred" all of the shields. I painted the shield faces with GW Mechrite Red foundation paint, the backs in brown with a Devlin Mud wash. The bosses Chainmail with a Black wash. Then I put the transfers on – this is quite hard work, got most lined up but not entirely happy with the results. The red I used is close enough that it looks OK. A tip – do this with the shields on the sprue, I found it alot easier to line up the transfer than when they had been cut away. As for basing – I am using the Impetvs rules and going for 12 figures on a 120x40 base in 2 ranks. Line up of unpainted figs on my test base looks ok as I am putting 4 less figs into the same space as a FoG/DBA base and can cope with overhangs by careful positioning. My thoughts on figures: Detail could be crisper and arm fit on Legionaries could be better. My box had no flash at all and seam lines are fainter than on most metal figures. Having seen painted examples I am very encouraged that they will look great when complete. I have the Warlord Celts and they look OK next to them. |

Tarleton, There was no flash at all, and almost no mold lines. |

The figs look nice with a good paint job but pretty horrid unto themselves in my opinion. First time I've clearly been able to see the "fuzziness" everyone's talking about. |

excellent job on the figs, pics and write up. I think the base size vs modern figure size is universal , although i for the life of me cant see why just increasing the depth by 5mm will make a jot of difference in the grand scheme of things and look aesthetically much better (IMHO). But I dont do competition games i suppose, just for fun. |

I got my figures too. I based them on 20x20mm GW bases for WAB, and had no issues with the figures ranking up. Damon. |

Excellent review!! I think that the "ranking up" issue affects most 28mm figures these days (since I'm not a tournament gamer I'm not overly anal about that). And the "long assembly time" is a drawback for all multi-part plastic figures no matter who makes them. My main issue was "will these look good when painted" and from what I saw here the answer is a resounding YES. Bottomline
these now look even more interesting and I'm very tempted to buy some (especially since they're definitely on the cheap-side price-wise). |

Scott – very helpful review and good camera work! Unlike the other hard plastics pleased to see that the box comes complete with shields and transfers. Not sure what can be done about the size of the bases – same problem for levelled pikes! Have seen wargamers that have their front two ranks on say 25/30mm bases to deal with this – looks OK but may create problems under some rules. Will wait and see what other ranges they make but shame really that I have all the imitation legionnaries I need – these would have done very well. Thanks for the review. Garry |
