Can you guys recommend the Vallejo or FS colors to match the splinter camo as seen on the CV90 series? If I can get FS numbers, I'll just match them to the Vallejo Model Color line myself, anyway. Thanks! |

The problem with FS numbers is that they're for the full-scale vehicle or aircraft. If you paint the full-scale FS color on a model or miniature, it tends to look too dark, to my eyes; it's an effect called "scale color". So I always go for a lighter color that "looks right". I don't remember what the full-scale FS colors are for Swedish splinter camo; you can probably find them with a Google search. But on my microarmor (1/300), I went with the following Testors Model Master Acryl acryllic paints: For the dark green, 4726 Dark Green, FS34079 For the light green, 4736 Interior Green, FS24151 For the tan, 4709 Dark Tan (actually light tan), FS30219 For the black, 4767 Aircraft Interior Black, FS37031, lightened with just a touch of the Dark Tan, to give it a slight charcoal look Here's the Model Master color chart, so you can see what the colors I chose look like: PDF link Maybe that will help you pick Vallejo colors. Looking at an online Vallejo chart ( link ) I'd go with 968 Flat Green, 967 Olive Green lightened with 954 Yellow Green, 847 Dark Sand, and 862 Black Grey. Although, to be honest, as long as your colors are close, nobody should get on your case. Colors on the full-scale tanks fade, and they change value depending on the lighting conditions. If anyone *does* give you grief, ask to see *their* splinter-painted models or miniatures. I also hit the tanks with Dullcote at the end to give them a dead flat finish. And, yes, painting the Swedish splinter camo on microarmor is an exercise in patience, but it looks *very* nice when you're done. |

Wow, you were a brave soul for painting that in 6mm! Thanks for the ideas! |

I need to post some photos somewhere, but my old digital camera is shot. And I can't afford a new one until the economy turns around, so don't hold your breath. :( |
