Subject: Mig-3 Manufacturer: True North Miniatures link Scale: 1/144 Medium: White Metal Price (webstore): $6.00 USD USD The True North Mig-3 is a one piece casting. The minis I have required minimal trimming and filing although a couple had an area around the right front of the spinner/cowling area that needed to be filled. I used a little green stuff and gap-filling super glue to fix the area. The control surfaces and canopy frames are outlined with very fine lines. The minis came with decals (red stars). Not all of the minis had the same type of stars though (some had a white edge others did not). I'm working on many other True North minis right now and was able to come up with enough of the white-edged stars to give a uniform appearance. Recommendation: Nice little kit, I recommend it for all experience levels. Post assembly: Decals: True North (stars), Battlefront Miniatures (slogans & lightning bolts), & Microscale for the numbers. Paint: Vallejo Model Colors Primer: Rust-Oleum Gray Automotive Primer Matte Finish: Krylon Crystal Clear Matte picture picture I'm following up the Mig-3s with some I-16s (two variants
decals go on tomorrow night), some I-15s (second color tomorrow night), and some Pe-2s (canopies tomorrow night). As those come off the line I might knock out some French Ms.406s, and them maybe some Finns (or back to Soviet biplanes). So many minis, so little time. Kevin |

What pack are the zig-zag arrows in? I need some for my Sturmoviks. Great stuff, as usual. I shamelessly copy your canopy effects. I think you should know that. |

John, the Sturmoviks that I have (Battlefront) come with the zig-zag. I don't know if they're available separately. I'm pretty sure the slogans are from the Soviet Stalingrad SU940 sheet. Kevin |

Wow indeed! Excellent work comrade. Do you use an airbrush? The reason I ask is the yellow spinners look flawless. My yellpws come out looking blotchy. If you don't use one then you are a Hero of Socialist Labor. Salut tovarich! Bruce the Texas Grognard |

Looking GREAT as usual, Kev. Ever figure out what that Soviet slogan says? Might be something interesting
.. Looking forward to the I-16s. :-) Kimball |

Number 3 is "For Stalin", number 5 is "Victory". As for the painting; makes me sick, as usual
. ;-) |

Bruce, just a brush and several coats of yellow (I hate yellow
and red
and white). Kimball, thanks. Dom, you're close on the slogans. I translate them as "mmmm vodka" and "thank you sir may I have another". But then I only speak American English, some French, some very bad Arabic, and double-Dutch. Kevin |

Most of my knowledge of Russian is in the form of particularly foul obscenities, but I do have Rob Rowell's superb SOTCW Journal article on Soviet slogans
