"Typhoon Squadrons in the Normany campaign" Topic

Howdy y'all! Does anyone know which RAF and/or RCAF squdrons were involved in supporting the Canadians and the Polish 1st Armd Div up to and including the Battle of Falaise? I'm eyeing Battlefront's Typhoon Flight for Christmas. Yeah I know its not Christmas yet, but one can still drool none the less. Thanks and Salut y'all!

Sorry Bruce, can't help with the squadrons, but there will be a release of plastic planes, pre-painted, and possibly pre-assembled too, in 1/144th scale soon, which might save you some money.

From the prototype pics, they look great.

I believe they will be produced by F-Toys.

The Osprey Campaign book, states that it was the 2nd Tactical air force that supported the forces in Normandy. It does not list the individual squadrons but there is a nice website that shows the OOB for the 2nd Tactical air force.

I've indicated what the main weapons being used by the unit at the time was (rockets or bombs), although some units did use both.
The 'cab rank' fighter-bomber system would mean that there weren't specific squadrons assigned to support any particular ground unit, so you could pick your favourite squadron or code letter.
