Russians? Now that piques the interest. |

During the Civil War, elements of the Russian fleet did visit new York (ostensibly on a friendship visit, but actually to avoid being frozen in for the winter in case of a conflict with the UK or France!). |

The author, an executive of the Defense Intelligence Agency, interweaves a lot of historical events as the basis for his fantasy look at World War One-Half. The visit of the Russian Fleet of course sets the stage for their cooperation with the Union. While the book is in deed far-fetched, it is believing enough to be quite a good read, and one of the best alternative histories I have seen. |
