Three units of twenty Azab spearmen painted. Tried some new quicker techniques on this little lot, so i wouldn't class these as my "Showcase" standard. As always comments welcome, these will be in the marketplace for a bit and probably end up on ebay.

If your interested?

You did an excellent job, IMO. Skin color may be too dark. Not that it's wrong somehow, campaining in hot weather under a lot of sun will give you a sun tan. But it's invisible compared to the rest of the figure. Perhaps highlight of very light brown here and there will make it better.

Very nice, were they in the Vaslui game at Derby?

Yep, painted specifically for the game, they could only do the Saturday though and failed to perform any feats of valour at all, sculked home with no casualties or booty :o(

Fantastic work!!!
They are very well painted and based, so, looking your figs. I'm thinking to paint Eastern Renaissance figs.
Are they based for which set of rules?
Can you write something about your basing system?

Compliments from Italy!!!!

I've been experimenting with basing concepts generally, these particular bases are 40mm frontage by 50mm depth, the idea being that I'm not over concerned with the depth in a game and I can produce the "ragged" line effect with the figures much better than on 40mmx 40mm which would be the normal sizes for most rules. If I had increased the frontage it would mess up the normal convention of 20mm per fig.

My focus is on the visual, understandably. I have also distributed 20 figs over 6 bases ( rather than 5) so I can have an even looking formation, as these fellas were to be used on en masse it gives me the options of 2x3, 3x2, or a line of 6 bases. If you look at the figures you will see two bases with four figs on and four bases with three on to make the unit. And to be honest nobody noticed the increase in depth, or apportioning of figures when used, so I guess it all worked.

first unit now listed on ebay, should be easy enough to find!
Second and third units up for offers (for a bit anyway)
