Here's a project I just completed. HaT's elephant wasn't quite satisfactory, so I replaced him with a Schleich Indian elephant. Did retain the HaT mahout and pikeman. Tht other two guys are conversions. Scratchbuilt the tower, etc. picture picture picture

Beauty. I've often looked at the Schleich Mammoth/Mastodons as potential Mamukil for LotR (it demands something bigger than a standard elephant).

Thanks, guys ! Yes, good eye CraigSpiel ! That is indeed a Goliath archer. The biblical look isn't quite right even for a Successor eastern kingdom, but passable with a head swap, not to mention the long tunic and clumsy big feet are hidden by the tower. :-) Here's a shot of the two crew conversions: picture Regards, Steve

Agree with you about the HaT elephant – necessary compromises in a 1/72 model are just unsatisfactory when simply scaled up to 1/32. I wouldn't be too happy with the mahout's precarious kneeling pose either – perhaps a converted Numidian horseman would look a bit more comfortable? Still a great modelling job!

Killer stuff! I have a couple of those I haven't assembled yet, I will have to try this as well.
