Subject: Polikarpov I-153
Manufacture: Old Glory UK link
Scale: 15mm
Medium: Resin with metal detail parts
Price: £9.00 GBP

The kit consists of three resin parts (fuselage, top wing, and bottom wing) and several metal detail parts (horizontal stabs, bombs, rockets, struts, pilot, tail wheel, prop hub). The kit includes a diagram which indicates the location of the various parts. For the most part the components went together well after some trimming and cleaning. A few (three of seven) of the kits had a number of air pockets on the bottom of the fuselage but they were easy enough to fill. I glued the wings in place first and then added the wing struts. This seemed to work well and I wasn't bothered with trying to hold wings & struts & the fuselage & the glue all at the same time. I did the same thing with the tail. I attached the horizontal stabs and then trimmed and attached their struts. The kit comes with a very basic pilot figure which I replaced with a Battlefront Miiniatures Soviet tank crewman.

Recommendation: I recommend having some modeling experience before attempting this kit.

Other: The kits are available from the UK. Postage to Virginia wasn't bad at all. Andy was very helpful with the whole international order thing.

Post assembly:
Decals: I-94 Enterprises i-94enterprises.com for the national insignia. The numbers are from MicroScale link
Paint: Vallejo Model Colors
Primer: Rust-Oleum Gray Automotive Primer
Matte Finish: Krylon Crystal Clear Matte
