Here is GW's Specialist Games website, where you can download the Mordheim rules (legally) for free: link The Tanzanica conversion rules are here (also legally for free): tanzanica.com/index.htm I think this is going to be an enormous amount of fun. Mordheim is making a come-back where I live, and it might be a good chance to get some of the kids into gaming in Darkest Africa. I wasn't quite sure whether this should be a pure 19th century, or a VSF thread. On the one hand, most of the magic stuff is gone. Instead of wyrdstone, you're looking for ivory. The closest thing to a VSF contraption is a balloon, which is maybe reminiscent of Haggard, but was nonetheless perfectly historical. The only spell casters are African witchdoctors, and it is stated several times that their powers can be either magic or just a combination of psychology and jungle lore. Certainly, the Europeans gain bonuses to their saves against magic, because it is assumed that they don't believe in it. On the other hand, it definitely has heroes who are rather supernormal, all the way up to Winslow Wombat, Lord of the Jungle link who can command animals, can't be killed, and can generally do all of the things Tarzan can do. So, in the end, I put this thread under both boards. Anyway, while I have never played this game yet, i am, obviously, very interested. I hope it does not suck. So, enjoy. Would also love to hear anyone's experiences with these rules. |

Ahhh, Tanzanica- This site has been up for a few years now- Great and simple conversion rules. This is the site that got me into mordheim, then colonial (and eventually pulp) miniature gaming. Thanks for the nostalgia, Mephistopheles. I'm gonna go tool around that site and see if there's anything new. And to whomever created Tanzanica, Thank you! |

Mephistopheles, Thanks for the link. Somehow, I've never seen this site before your posting. |

It would be great if someone could covert all this info to a pdf for posterity just in case the site ever goes down. I will look into it

Whew
Well, axabrax inspired me, so I took all of the HTML pages, and turned them into a book. Those pages have some weird HTML coding, so I wasn't able to make a PDF, my adobe-fu is not up to the challenge. But I made a pretty nice looking Word document that kept the illustrations, and I added in a table of contents. COPYRIGHT Okay, I am ASSUMING that there is no problem here, since this is a free download. However, if anybody DOES have a problem with this, just let me know or contact the owner or something, and I'll stop passing them out? Okay? We're all mature enough to handle that? |

Haven't seen those rules before – have to give them a try. |

Mephistopheles, I didn't see how it would be a problem. Now nobody can give you any grief. Although I play a lot of Mordheim, it is not my favorite game. The Tanzanica angle really has me stoked. |

Has anybody got this guy's Tanzanica word document? Based on the above it looks like copyright is no issue, and I'd live to get it. Tried to emAil Mr. Irish, but it just bounces. |

Or maybe Mephistopheles will chime in? |

Thanks Camcleod. I found it, but I was hoping for the word document where it was all combined into one file. |
