I just received my "Old Temple" from the MBA and at $119.95 USD it's well worth the money as it is fully painted, well sculpted and very atmospheric. It also has a removable top. It can be used for many different types of scenarios including the usual "hidden jungle civilization", but also ERB's "John Carter" and REH's "Conan" Swords and sorcery adventures that feature a temple like "Iron Shadows in the Moon". I can see using it as a "stand alone" centerpiece or with Dwarven Walls to create a maze of tunnels leading to the temple. It's a fairly large building with plenty of room inside, but not so large as to be out of scale or obtrusive. Here are a few links that show the scale with both Bob Murch's minis and Bronze Age minis. picture picture picture picture picture The bad news is that it's already going out of production, so finding one might be tough. |

Most of the "Pulp" stuff was a limited run as I understand it. |

They're lovely pieces, and you can still get everything but the river trading post and the old temple directly from MBA. I don't think they realized quite how popular this particular line was going to be; I hope their future releases, even if limited, have a bit larger production run. |

Yes, the Old Temple is extremely nice. It is a pity the run wasn't larger. I suppose it is hard to guess how many to make. |

They are beautiful models. I passed on the temple, but I did pick up the River Trading Post, a rope bridge and a sampan. I passed on the temple, partly because it is so similar to this one from Petco. Which is also painted and significantly cheaper. link |

"I passed on the temple, partly because it is so similar to this one from Petco. Which is also painted and significantly cheaper". But you can't use the interior. The ability to use the inside of a building is a very important feature IMO. I didn't buy the MBA "Trading Post" because the interior is so cramped. I use an old Airfix "Bamboo Outpost" model instead. here's a link: link |

Very nice – but very expensive – and what's the point of a limited run for the entire line? Pulp is one of the hottest areas right now. |

Number6 et all - I was also very disappointed that the Temple was a limited edition piece (which may explain the higher price). Unfortunately, I was on a waiting list, and the temple sold out just before the vendor got to me. I did manage to snag one each of the other pieces in the range. All very nice and very appropriate for a wide variety of periods. I'm quite pleased with all of them, and have no major complaints. Paint jobs were very good, with the exception of some of the interior pieces in the river trading post, which seemed a bit average. My impression is that these would mix well with some of the nicer "Cambodian Temple Ruin" type pieces that used to be available at Petcos for Aquariums. That isn't a stab at MBA – some of those aquarium pieces are very, very nice. Now, if somebody would just get off their butt and do some more pulp Japanese/Chinese/Asian type stuff, I could pursue all my nefarious plans. -Aurelian

"I was also very disappointed that the Temple was a limited edition piece (which may explain the higher price). I think that the MBA really dropped the ball on this one as the "Old Temple" is one of the most desirable and utilitarian pieces that they offer in that range. As you can see from my links it can be used for all sorts of gaming. I'm not an RPG-er, but I assume it can be used for D&D and other games as well. It would also make a nifty terrain piece for Warhammer Fantasy. |

I talked with the guys at MBA and they have to plan their runs a year in advance. They based it on what they expected to sell. I didn't manage to get off my butt and order one before they sold out but I understand that when you are ordering all these pieces at one time, you have to make the best guess on what you can sell. This was their first foray into pulp style buildings and I would not be surprised to see more from them like it. Rich |

Yes, but the nice thing about the MBA temple is that it converts to a ruin. The interior detailing is very nice. I would like to see MBA do another run of the temple, at least. Even though we did manage to snag one, there are too many folks who didn't and wanted it. I'd rather see others get to use the cool toys too than feel smug about having a limited edition building. |

"I would like to see MBA do another run of the temple, at least" When I spoke to them they said that they didn't plan to. |

I got both the temple and the trading post and I have to say they are excellent. I do understand the thing about being a limited run and it is a shame that they did it that way. |
