Have some of the nice HLBS 1/48 Russians and Chechen-types to paint – are there any photo references around? Books especially would be preferred.

Also check YouTube. But to let you know,Russian BDUs colors can be different depending when they were produced.

And if your French is up to it this is the only pictorial publication I know of the Chechen Wars. Some excellent photos in there as well.

I use image search and TV news coverage. Live from the front and lets you see exactly what it really looks like, rather than what the "book" says it should look like.

I know there are a couple of Flikr albums posted by people from Chechnya. Very illuminating.
