Olive drab.

For WWII, it depends on whose bombs they are.

Well, right now I'm working on a German aircraft. The bombs are SC50's and an SC250.

Most USAAF bombs during WWII were Olive Drab. Modern USAF dumb bombs are still mostly Olive Drab, other weapon are ether olive Drab or gray.

Light grey for german bombs I suspect.

According to an article in the January 1971 Airfix Magazine, Luftwaffe bombs for external carriage were light blue or light grey (presumably RLM 65 or RLM 76 to match the aircraft undersides) while ones for internal carriage were dark green (RLM 70?).

They would have a stripe lengthways between the fins on the tailcone to identify the type, which would be between 40 mm and 60 mm wide depending on the size of the bomb (although the very small types like the SC50 would have the entire tailcone painted). The stripes were yellow for SC bombs, red for SD, and blue for PC.

That's really great Richard, thanks very much! :-)

Thanks to everyone else who answered as well. I'll need to build a USAF aircraft in the not too distant future, and now I know what colour they shoulb be as well.
