I had a couple of hurri MKIICs that were begging to be finished but I wanted to do something a little different. I found a picture of a MKIIC in night fighter livery in Marek Rys, Mushroom Model Magazine Special: Hawker Hurricane and thought I would give it a try. Since the paint scheme is pretty lame (very dark grey, not black, so that a dark wash would provide some contrast and definition) I decided I would add a little action to the canopies of the two models. I painted the canopies a very dark blue and then added yellow and red to represent the fires caused by the enemy bombers. I also added some white streaks to represent searchlight beams and some white spots on the top of the canopies to represent the reflection of the stars overhead. I-94's new 1/144 & 1/100 British decals sheets provided the final touc (very nice decals). picture picture |

Very nice. Those canopies are a work of art. Did they use roundals with white in? Seems a bit odd when the rest of the plane is toned down? |

The roundels on the tops of the wings are blue/red and the ones on the fuselage are yellow, red, white, & blue. |
