Hello all, we've created a simple force generator utility for use in miniature wargames. The utility can be used for army creation, scenario creation or anything else that needs a random element. Its completely free over at: racingspidergames.com |

Very nice, but instead of repeating entries, how about letting us put in a weighting factor? (Like "4" instead of repeating an Infantry Squad four times.) That would also let us create more complex percentages. |

Yeah, I see what you mean. So, you could have a pile of entries with the number "1" and one with "30" or whatever. That is much more elegant, thanks Number6, I'll look into changing the way it works, and use a weight instead. |

Ok. The RFG has been updated to use weights instead. You can get it at the same place as the first post. Any more feedback is greatly appreciated. |

You should be able to make a similar version here: random-generator.com It can be used for a lot of different things. |

We used random force and scenario terrain generators for our Napoleonics back in 1979. Very popular and printed in both Wargamer's Digest in 1979 and the Courier in the 1980s. We also did a version in our WW2 'Fire! Ogon! and Freur!' rules in 1984. using every table as random, 1,000s of scenarios could be generated. We recently reprinted this in Time Portal Passages which can be found on the Magweb, a few years ago. It is great to see that the optionalprocess is still popular among gamers. Good work. |
