On this site are several pictures from a couple of LI games that we recently played here in South Carolina, USA. In some of the pics you can see 8 land ironclads that I made by mating 1/1200 ACW ships with 1/300 WWII tank hulls. They are the ones on the longer lighter-green bases. The USS Cairo class ships on top of the KV hulls was a really easy conversion. For them all I had to do was cut the bow and stern peices off of the ships and file the Feul tanks off of the soviet tank hulls. commandpostonline.com Click on the picture of the game to the right of the Land Ironclads rulebook. |

Wow. Those look great. LI is what, 2mm scale? Roughly at least? Man, I SO do not need a new project right now, but I am sorely tempted. Discipline, J. Discipline. |

Yes, LI is 2mm or 1/1200. I didn't need another project either, but a number of guys in my club were doing it as a group project and I had the extra ships lying around from my ACW naval game. I figured that they're the correct scale, so why not. Actually, they are a little larger than the minis that are typically used for LI, but they are ironclads in the correct scale. They worked just fine in the game. These are the first non-historical minis I've painted in over 25 years! |

So are they the ones with the Confederate flags & big wheels at the back about half way down the page? Nice to see the Martians out too. Did you get them from Bridage or somewhere in the US? |

I was alway going to do that with some 15mm MiniatureShips (now OG Shipyard) ships, but never got around to it, and finally sold the models

Looks like fun. But I really wish LI had gone for 6mm. Making it scale-compatable with Aeronef seems less than totally beneficial, since the interaction of aerial units is somewhat indirect in the first place. Which is why many manufacturers make their air support out of scale anyway. |

So are they the ones with the Confederate flags & big wheels at the back about half way down the page? Yes, that is four of them. The other four have American flags and no large wheels. The wheels and their 'chasses' are from 15mm limbers. Nice to see the Martians out too. Did you get them from Brigade or somewhere in the US? Those aren't mine, but I believe that they were purchased from Brigade. I really wish LI had gone for 6mm. I think that 6mm would work just fine. A regular infantry move is only 2 inches and the vehicles move only 1-6 inches, so the game would be very easy to scale up. |

Great job on the conversions – have you got any close-ups of them? Yours in a white wine sauce! Paul |

Sorry, those are the only pics I have right now. I'll try to take more at our next game. |

Actually, a couple of the pics are fairly close, just scroll about halfway down. commandpostonline.com Click on the picture of the game to the right of the Land Ironclads rulebook. |
