So, who does? I've dug out of my loft an ME109 and Spitfire assembled plastic kits, that appear to be somewhere between 1/72 and 48th scale, just right for my 28mm WW2 games – any ideas of where I can get some more, or who made them? |

I used 1/48 for my 28mm Nomonhan demo and work fine. Only prob being the undercarriage is usually modelled down and crew are rare. I would also suggest 1/72 aircraft would work well as you would get the perspective of height, i suppose it depends on numbers you field. I recommend topgunace's flight stands. A google search for 1/48 aircraft kits will give you more than you need. I am unaware of 1/56, 1/60 aircracft kits, dont think it matters much to be honest. |

Hard to say without seeing them. I generally use a scale smaller for my ground games, that way the aircraft model doesn't visually overwhelm the figures, I find it looks better. So, for 15mm games I use 1/144 aircraft and for 25mm games I use 1/72. You could have a look at squadron.com and that may give you an idea, they have all sorts of plastic model scales |

You've seen the Grand Manner Horsa Glider I assume: link |

So, what are you looking for? Are you looking for wrecks? Are you looking for something to put on a flight stand? Or, are you looking for a piece of scenery that figures can have shoot-outs around? I have three photos of some 1/48's with 25mm figures for comparison link As you can see from the other three photos, Revell, Monogram and a few other companies make models in that scale. And, if it helps, most of the models in that pile are for sale – I've given up on ever getting around to them. Wyatt wiattheodd (at) aol (dot) com |

As mentioned, any 1/48th scale planes will do

I just need a couple of models for ground attack for my land battles. I saw a 1/48 diecast stuka at a show and it looked huge, just wondered if there was another scale between 1/72 and 1/48th, couldn't find any myself. |

Rob - Didn't you tell me there were some really nice pre-painted cheap 1/48 21st Century planes at Walmart? Kimball |

The 21st Century planes are nice. Only the selection is slim(Bf109,P-51,P-40,Tony) and not all Walmarts carry any of them. They are also available at ToysRUs. |

I couldn't find any airplanes in 28mm scale so I scratch built a few in 1/56th scale using basswood and scrap metal. Here are a few pics: I plan to build a couple new types this winter when I have more time. Messerschmitt: picture Sturmovik: picture Wildcat: picture The Wildcat turned out so good I pondered building a squadron and even a carrier in 1/56th until I calculated that the carrier would be 11ft long! |

This company makes hand-carved airplanes from mahogany wood in a variety of scales. Several of their models are in 1/56th, with other models ranging from 1/48th-1/60th. I bought their 1/56th Grumman Avenger and its quite nice. Now I have to create a scenario to rescue the downed Avenger pilot George H.W. Bush. link |
