I'd really like to find a copy of this book (originally published by Futura in 1982).

Anyone know where I can find a copy? – I've tried all my local booksellers, Google, Amazon, Abebooks, ebay, trade me etc etc but can't find one anywhere….seems to be as rare as hens teeth.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Cheers

AddAll (a very useful meta-search engine for books – it checks all the other main book search engines) located three copies, all at Bong Bong Books in Australia:

A mere US$185 each.

Actually, that's probably the same copy coming up on 3 different search engines.

Special Aussie price for a Kiwi eh? :)

I know a copy isn't going to be cheap but for $200+ NZ I'll pass and keep on looking elsewhere.

Thanks for replying anyway.

If you are looking for alternatives, you can try:

1-PAFV018 018 PROFILE AFV WEAPONS:Chieftain & Leopard-Devel 1 vol, 24 pgs 19?? LONDON, PROFILE PUBLICAT. GOOD-softcover $5.00 USD (like a magazine)

First half on Chieftain, 2nd half on Leopard. Mostly B&W photos, some color, tracing the development of the two tanks.

And there is always the Osprey New Vanguard:

I seached everywhere for this book and refused to pay the high prices people were asking for it. I saw one listed on Amazon for $69.00, but somebody bought it before I could get it.

I'm glad I didn't get it because I found one on ebay and got it for under $5.00. I am still shocked I was able to get it for such a low price.

Chieftains is now available on the Amazon.co.uk Kindle store. Not checked the .com site.

Just bought it, £3.30 GBP on Kindle, 25% in and well worth it…

OMM. The chieftains was/is a what if book based on the hacket books of a hypothetical ww3 in Europe. It looked at a brit armoured unit ( can't remember the name) and the 11th ACR.

It's an OK book. Vastly overpriced on second hand market.

My favourite of the books based on hacket is first clash, which i managed to find on a visit to caliver over the Christmas. About a unit from the Canadian brigade group. Kiwi if you ever see this one grab it. Can't recommend this one too highly.
