Folks, Not sure if any Ogre / GEV fans out there have been following the discussion on the SJG board about using Hotz ArtWorks maps with the miniatures but I have just said I am happy to collect the info
Basically it seems that both Steve Jackson and Erik Hotz are prepared to discuss the creation of mats suitable for the miniatures line based on the original maps link Can I ask that anyone interested send me an e-mail (adb at kings-sleep.me.uk) stating: 1) Price you would be prepared to pay link 2) Size of hex 3) Type of map (Ogre / GEV / etc) 4) Quantity Thanks Andrew |

That sounds cool, but I've been using Heroscape hexes for all of my Ogre figure scenery needs

Aren't the models a tight fit on the HeroScape hexes? |

have you finished your ogre hexes yet Bill? |

I'd just as soon answer here. 1. Price – not an issue, as long as it is high-quality. 2. Size of hex – big enough for any Ogre to fit in a hex – the front-end-of-the-Ogre-in-a-hex thing was just stupid. 3. GEV and Shockwave maps. I never bought the Reinforcement Pack – if the maps are od decent scenarios, I'd buy them too. 4. Quantity – one of each. Here's the rub – sell maps that you have scenarios for. |

"Aren't the models a tight fit on the HeroScape hexes?" A little but it works

I prefer posting here, too. 1. Price – Comparable to the other Hotz maps, depending on final size 2. Size of hex – Big enough for an Ogre Mk.V 3. Map – OGRE map definitely, maybe a GEV map 4. Quantity – One of each |

Price – I already made my own, so I think I'm done. Size – the paper maps were 1.5", and that was a little small. Mine have 2" hexes, but the maps are *huge*. "Big enough to fit an ogre in a hex" means a map about ten feet across and slightly longer (for the G.E.V. map). The regular Ogre map would be maybe seven feet across, possibly eight. So "the ogre is considered to be in the front of its two hexes" is not being cheap, its more or less a necessity. The Ogre map is awesome for three or four scenarios. Happily, a couple of those scenarios have a ***lot*** of replay value. The G.E.V. map is great for several different scenarios, and better for sit-down-and-make-it-up battles and definitely better for four player games. I have a felt 2" hex G.E.V. map and Shockwave map, the two that are similar and fit together. I have only paper maps for the Ogre board. I was thinking of making a cloth Ogre board, but I have too many projects in the works as it sits. Andrew |

I prefer to just use a plain hexed map and add my own terrain. I use both a 2" version from Monday Knight and a 3" version (for smaller battles) from Hotzmats. Both work just fine. I have also thought of using the Heroscape hexes – they work great on the 2" mat from Monday Knight

2.5-3" Hexes, GEV Map, up to $60. USD I already own a Hotz map For my Air-to Air games, so I know it'll be good! |

Hope you don't mind me popping my comments on here too
1) I've bought loads of Hotz maps and they're a fair price, but if there was a way to make them multi-coloured just like the deluxe maps I'd be willing to pay soem more. 2) up to 3 inch otherwise its just too big, though I normally use 2 inch Hotz maps 3) GEV 4) If you could put out a double-sided map that would be enough to be going on with, suplements could then be added at a later date
if there was some good suport
;-) Please print the rules so I can play it soon, I've played it round friends houses in the past. I don't have access to the rules anymore and would really like to run a game at my local club so I can spread the word. |
