I notice you have "Feudal Men-at-arms" and "Feudal Bill-and-bow" units. By the late 15th century, feudalism (land tenure in exchange for military service) had all but died out and had been replaced by the so-called Bastard Feudalism. Bastard Feudalism was basically a system of indenture, whereby a man would agree with a noblemen to provide a number of men suitably armed and accoutred in return for "livery and maintenance" – in other words they would wear the colours of the nobleman as members of his retinue and be provided bed and board or money in lieu of same.

Don't quote history at me Mr Snorbens! This is one of my periods. The terms are functional within the rules. They equate to retained and yeoman levy.

One of mine too.

"The terms are functional within the rules. They equate to retained and yeoman levy."

I thought that might be the case, but if so then it is misleading. Clearly not your fault since (I assume) you didn't write the rules.

Looks like another great scenario game – great figures as always. Your Bat-Reps are some of the best. Thanks again for sharing!

Mike,

Piquet's BoB2 supplement covers 1200 – 1600. I guess they had to come up with terminology that would cover a multitude of sins. I know what they mean and that is enough for me. I used its terminology so as not to confuse anyone wanting to play the scenario using BoB2. If such folk have gone to the trouble of painting the figs they will probably have read a book or two aswell.

Of all the 'English' wargames periods, this is probably the easiest to understand. Lots of easy to follow literature and a strong historical narrative.

Nice figs!

Uesugi,

Thanks. These figures have not seen the light of day for many a year. I even found two units of pike surplus to requirements and put them on ebay.
