Two years in the making and drawing upon decades of research, noted naval historian, artist, and wargamer Mal Wright brings us full color enhanced versions of the GQIII Ship logs.

These ship logs will first be available for the entire Royal Navy, the Kriegsmarine, and the Norwegian and Polish navies. So players will be able to use them for action from Gibraltar to the Arctic, from the Baltic to the New World. And not just for one period. All marks of a ship are represented throughout her operational life as she went through refits. This is a massive undertaking representing over 2000 cards in business card size, ready to be put into holders easily available at office supply and stationary stores.

Look for them soon on the ODGW website, odgw.com.

CinC

Be glad to look when you get some in the PTO for IJN, Dutch, and USN ships.

Gracias until then,

Glenn

I'm sure they'll be coming soon – Mal's work in this area has been (a) extremely well researched, (b) exceedingly well presented and (c) extremely comprehensive both in terms of nations covered and coverage within fleets!!!

I think the depth of these things is almost unbelieveable. The Kreigsmarine for example includes a card for what seems like every captured warship (Dutch, Italian, Greek etc.) put into German service.

I'm chomping at the bit for the rest of the fleets (and WW1 evil grin)

There are now free samples of the Deluxe Ship Logs available on the ODGW website, link You can preview the completeness of the research and the utility of the cards for yourself!

Ok, I'm thinking of buying into the new Deluxe logs. Are they worth it? Are they sufficiently better than the standard logs? I've seen the samples and they look impressive, although for my use, I'd use 'em as a database (use the Adobe snapshot tool to copy/paste what I need into my OBs instead of printing/cutting/storing some 1000+ cards; I don't have room for that many cards!). So, what's the word on these?

Mal Wright Fezian11 Jul 2008 9:09 p.m. PST

As the creator of them I can but say that I designed them with the ease of play in use and for them to be as up to date for refits etc as was humanly possible for me to research.
Your idea of using Adobe snapshot is a good one and something others are also doing. There is then no need to print them all out, you can simply store them on your computer and use those you want, when you want.
As for better than the standard logs. Making them better and easier to use was pretty much the purpose of the exercise and considerable thought was give to that. Colour, layout, the amount of information etc. Everything was considered and the final design seems to suit pretty well everyone.

The Regia Marina is the latest navy to undergo the Deluxe Ship Database treatment, and is available for sale now. All the Italian ship classes for WWII are featured in this latest edition of the Ship Logs. Now players can venture into the Mediterranean with all the ships necessary for the action.

Keep checking back to the Old Dominion GameWorks website, odgw.com, as we continue to provide more support for our flagship game, General Quarters III.

Currently we are deciding if there is enough support for the USN and IJN Ship databases. These will cost in the neighborhood of $35 USD each. We are conducting a poll on the ODGW website, odgw.net. If you are likely to buy, cast your vote there.
