Tom Meier has other projects on his plate that make him far more money so he has said he will get back to the 1/48 WW II stuff when he has time and inclination. |

"time and inclination" I have buckets of inclination, truly my inclination overfloweth, the situation with time however is the opposite. However I have just completed my last scheduled project for Hasbro and they haven't given me another one yet so I'll be getting back on the Fox project this weekend. There is about two months work to do to make the first release including figures and molds. |

"There is about two months work to do to make the first release including figures and molds." What's that in human years? |
T Meier | 11 Jun 2008 3:00 p.m. PST |
A good question, depends on what else I have to do. I don't exactly laze about wondering what I'm going to do with myself. Please understand, making hobby figures is not a real job, if I had to do it for a living my family would be on the poverty line. |

Relax – it was just a joke. You've explained the economics many, many times, and we get it. (But you have to admit, it was kinda funny . . .) |

So all we need is someone with pockets as deep as Hasbro and Tim can dedicate all his time to getting these minis out on the market. All right, step up, don't be shy. Anyone? Noone? Ok, so I guess it's back to plan B, wait patiently and hope that the perfect mix of well paying and not-to-timeconsuming jobs come Tom's way. And who am I kidding, by the way. Once I get my hands on these minis, it's gonna take far longer to get them painted than it has taken Tom to design, sculpt and produce them. |

Speaking of raising the dead (at least this thread)- are we there yet? |

Rather than start a third/fourth thread, and since it's been a while, does anyone know what's the status on this line of miniatures? And since it's related, I haven't seen an update from Thunderbolt Mountain (Tom Meier, the sculptor) in over a year

I was cleaning out my garage, and found the reference books that I bought to paint these guys, almost a decade ago, when the release appeared to be imminent. Out of perverse curiosity, does anyone know if the plug was ever officially pulled on this? Or does the entire completed range sit hidden in a vault somewhere, like the lost recordings in "Eddie and the Cruisers"? |

To me they not only seem dead, but buried as well. Did you find something strange? that we need to dig them up. An autopsy perhaps? |
Lucius | 15 Feb 2015 11:15 a.m. PST |
Nothing too strange – just the reference books. Maybe I'm just looking for confirmation that it was real, and that I didn't dream the whole thing. I guess that it is time to let them take their rightful place in miniatures mythology as one of the greatest ranges that never was. |

I contacted Thunderbolt Mountain directly and received a reply back that all the sculpts and masters were finished and that they are owned by Fox Miniatures. |
Heisler | 25 Aug 2015 8:21 a.m. PST |
And followed that up with an email to Fox Miniatures. I had an almost immediate reply from Jim Fox. He is retiring this fall and planning to devote his attention to the line over the winter. |
Thomas Nissvik | 26 Aug 2015 2:50 a.m. PST |
Heisler, please drop him another one and tell him we want his minis! I've waited 7 years for this, I can wait one more, no problem. |

Winter is coming No, wait. That's another of Tom's lines |

For some reason I've never been able to let go of this thread, or the idea that someday these figures will be produced. It's like one of those Cold War numbers stations that keep broadcasting, long after the Soviet Union died. Anyway, on a whim, I sent Fox Miniatures some email yesterday, asking if these figures were still a possibility. I got an almost immediate response back from Mr. Fox, who said that there will be a kickstarter very soon, to finally make these figures. I'll be the first to pledge, although actually owning them after all these years might be the end of an era for me. |
