Does anyone know of a good computer moderated Ancients system? Thanks, Chip |

I use Macedon & Rome for Ancients (i.e. 500BC to 500 AD) by Computer Strategies and The Age of Heroes for the earlier Biblical era. they have the troop types, formations, weapons, morale, fatigue etc. Also the battle outcomes seem to be to be fairly historical. They are the only computer modertaed systems I know of. What sort of thing are you after? |

The Macedon & Rome for Ancients sounds like it fills the bill. I have used Carnage and Glory for other periods (ACW, Nap. Wars, Franco/Prussian etc.)and have become quite hooked on them. (greatly reduces arguments and rules lawyering). Do Computer Strategies have a web site? Thanks, Chip |

Hi, The link is link I have mainly played the CS games. I suppose they are like the C&G games. What do you like about C&G? |

Carnage and Glory rule!!!!!! They have a good campaign generator. The tactical element handels weapons, moral, weather, fatigue, amunition, close combat, and difficulty in communicating orders to subordinates. It cuts down on arguments and games lawyers and is adaptable to several periods AWI, ACW, NAP. SYW, GNW,FPW etc. Try it! Nigel is very helpful and he has a good website as well. Chip |

Thanks for that BRDIII. Actually it sounds the same as the CS games, which also have solo and campaign elements and covers a number of periods. I agree with the observation about the games lawyers. IMHO this is one of the major benefits of computer moderation. The increased detail and realism is another major factor. |
