We play tested a scenario from the upcoming Guadalcanal 2 Check Your 6! scenario book last night. We had a great time! The scenario involved the remnants of the Cactus Air Force trying to strafe a couple of Japanese transports unloading troops. I had the crappiest planes in the Pacific, Japanese float planes with just two light machine guns in the front and one tail gun. I was able to get in a lot of shots by staying low where the Americans had to come to do their strafing damage.

CB Stevens took got enough hits on one of the transports early in the game that it was not able to unload troops (they were all floating dead in the water), denying us those victory points. Unfortunately as he dove to strafing altitude, his green pilot didn't pull out of his power dive and crashed into the water. The American eventually got enough hits on the second transport to stop it from disgorging more troops, but not before we got five loads to shore.

One of my crappy float planes downed one American. The zeros and zeros made into float planes took out three more. It was a commanding, overwhelming, undisputable, spectacular trouncing of the overconfident Americans.

This was a great game. Make sure you buy this book when it comes out!!!

How dare you disparage the mighty Mitsubishi F1M2 Pete…? Actually they were surprisingly effective little machines early on; allied pilots have rude things to say about them in a few accounts….

We played the Sunderland scenario from the falcon of the duce set and had great fun…..Especially when the Italian player managed to fly into the hex in front of the Sunderland – scratch one CR42.

Hey Monkey Hanger! Glad to hear you are enjoying the Falcon of the Duce! And even more glad to hear that the "flying porcupine" got some!

Floatplane Hell is going to be a superb scenario book. Mark Fastoso is working his typical magic and all the playtesting so far has been loads of fun. For my money, the only thing better than taking a biplane into WW2 dogfight is taking a biplane-floatplane into a WW2 dogfight!!!

Yes, in last night's scenario I managed to lose THREE Wildcats, getting shot down twice and losing my first plane to a nose-plant in the warm waters off Guadalcanal…but as I told everybody who was laughing at me, "I got a ship!"

They were reasonably effective last night. My best luck was with the single tail gun. I shot down one Wildcat and damaged another. Not bad for a biplane with a big float hanging under it!

Yes, CB, you got a ship, but we won. Nya!

Another Guadalcanal scenario book? Geez, I haven't even painted all the planes for the first one yet. At least you can get some Zeros at WalMart.

Your right on the money Dom. My late granduncle was a backseater on a Dauntless. He often told me about "P*$$ant Pete."
