I am thinking about building a 6mm Napoleonic Prussian army for the period around the battle of Jena 1806. I am going to use baccus 6mm figures but was unsure of what I should buy? That is what percentage of packs would be infantry cavalry and artillery? What would members more familiar with the period start out with if starting on this project? Any general advice? Also I am going to base for the Polemus rules. Should the Prussians be based on the same sized bases as the French? Did they actually fight in smaller formations, like lines instead of column. Sorry if the questions are a bit naive but this is a completely new period for me. I usually stick with Seven Years War and Renaissance. |

All bases in Polemos are the same size, no matter what size the unit actually was. As to composition of the forces – why not look at an OOB of Jena and work it out
In Polemos General de Division each Infantry base is a Bn (400-800 men) and an artillery base represents 6-8 guns. Cavalry is less clearly specified but about 250-300 men per base would be reasonable. All this is on the 1st few pages of the rules. Tony |

If you have the rules already you might try using the army generator to field a basic army and build from there based on the Baccus army packs and expansion packs. That's what I did for my 6mm WSS army. I decided on what size armies I wanted, generated them with the army generator in the rules and them began building from there. |

Why not just buy the Polemos Napoleonic boxed set? |

A typical Prussian division in 1806 was organised as follows; 2 x Infantry Brigade each 4 x Musketeer Battalion 1 x Grenadier 1 x 12pdr Battery 1 x Cavalry Brigade of 2 Dragoon/Cuirassier Regts totalling 10 squadrons 1 x Horse Battery I believe 24 inf or 9 cav go on a 60x30mm base and 1 or 2 guns on a 30x30mm base so for Polemos General de Division I would suggest the following 2 x Line Infantry NPR21 1 x Grenadiers NPR23 1 or 2 Artillery NPR28 1 x Heavy Cavalry NPR27 There will be some grenadiers and cavalry left over but it's good for a start. |
