Okay so I ended up buying about 400 Confederate and 300 Union infantry and about 200 Cavalry and 30 or so artillery guns and crews during the Sash & Saber Sale last month. I have been trying to figure out what to do with them and have decided to build a few divisions using JRIII. I figure I need about 8 or so Confederate Bde commanders and about 12 or so Union Commanders. S&S has only 4 (2 confederate and two union) in the line. Not doing much 25mm ACW I am looking for named and un named commanders that I can use with Sash & Saber. Who has em? I think Dixon does and I have a few already from Wargames Inc. What other lines have commanders?

I would go with the new mounted Perry commanders.

The S&S cavalry officer can be used for a brigade commander.

The Perry mounted officers look to be a good match for S&S. Old Glory and Redoubt are larger but could be used in a pinch. Dixon are about the correct height but they are bulkier and have the pumpkin heads.

Got to love the Pumpkin Heads however. The S&S Cavalry officers are all charging. Too undignified for Union Bde commanders!

Looking at the Redoubt list on the MSC site I see they have about 20 named commanders. I am moving them to the top of the list.

Redoubt is definitely the way to go (even though they are considerably bigger than S & S), but Old Glory also has big bags of named guys on horseback. Of course those are varied in quality…

Chinstrap look okay for Bn or Regt commanders but I am looking for BDE or above level commanders.

Redoubts are larger, and expensive, but very good. Also they have a HUGE variety of officer heads as well as the bare heads and some usable NCO and EM heads that you could mix and match in nearly endless combinations that might suit your needs to the max ( I don't work for them by the way) just like them a lot despite their cost being a serious factor!

Thanks I will check with MSC on what is available and price here in the States. Wish I could see them in person so I could try and match to the named commanders I have images of.
