Just curious if anyone is playing these rules? If so, how do they compare to other rule sets such as GdB or LFS?

I am trying to get a Napoleonics group started and we are discussing rule sets. Basing, as always, is the issue. I would like to be able to base my figures and change rules if we learn we wished we would have tried a different set.

Thanks for your help.

I actually was more excited by Huzzah GT than regular Huzzah. But it seemed the author lost interest and so did I. Be prepered for painting LOADS of figs for GDB. Tried and true rules. Nothing innovative.

Heard lots of good things about LFS and the sequence of play has a twist from regular IGOUGO which is a good thing IMO.

I'd also suggest Field of Battle from Piquet. eliminates all the negative things associated with PK but is very innovative. Probably would be my 1st choice.

YMMV.

Thanks,

John

The author of Huzzah! has not lost interest, but he does have a business that gets in the way of working on the game. The business keeps me alive and therefore takes priority over a project that is a labour of love. :-)

GT is still in development, but the essential mechanics are in place. Currently, when I have time I am putting together elements of the print edition of Huzzah!, at which point I will start compiling GT for release as a print edition. Both were originally put on hold to devote time to editing and laying out Martian Empires.

I'd choose LFS over Elan anyday BUT it does depend on what you're looking for. Elan feels a little toy-soldier'ish to me and its one of those sets of rules that bolts on loads of chrome to try and capture everything that ever happened, once, on a napoleonic battlefield somewhere.

I've been playing napoleonics for 20 years now and LFS is the best set of rules I've come across – acceptable compromises with period feel and enough detail without bogging down.

I really like Huzzah!. I find the rules well-written, clear and concise, not too complex and they are great for pick-up games. I recommend them.

I too, hopes to see more of Huzzah! GT, as it is my prefered scale.
