My first shot at a blog – Cowpens using our 18th Century tactical rules (under development) link The figures are 20mm Frying Pan & Blanket. I'm a gamer and a game designer, not a great painter. FP&B don't make any figures for the British Legion, so substitutions were made. On the other hand, most of the Rebel units are the actual units, or my version of them. |

Very nice. Paint job is better than you give yourself credit for. This reminds me that I need to place an order for FP&B War of 1812 figures, those guys are beautiful. |

Thanks, nice game & troops! I'm still working on all the forces for Cowpens. |

One of the best things about the game was that it played pretty close to the historical, with the outcome hanging in the balance for several turns. Tom and I had a sinking feeling when our militia left the table after two poorly aimed volleys. To quote Yogi Berra "It got late real early", but we hung on to snatch a victory from what seemed destined to be a quick defeat. It was one game where everyone seemed satisfied with the outcome being more a function of tactics and troop quality rather than luck of the dice. I must admit, however, that my rolls were much better in this game than my usual ones and twos. Perhaps, because of my better than usual dice rolling, I'm discounting the roll of luck in this game, but whatever the cause was, it played well and was one of my more enjoyable recent games. |
