Yesterday my father found a box set of Dark Future in a local charity shop for £2.00 GBP The cars and main rulebook were missing, but it had a selection of 'modified' Aurora cars in it, plus White Line Fever – complete. So for £2, I've got additional track, counters and the expansion pack to go with the complete set I already own. No way I'd beable to find WLF that cheap on it's own! :-)

Nice one…

I got a mint condition set of Heroquest at a charity shop for under a fiver… the 'Advance Quest' edition with a bunch of extra miniatures in there.
Got to be my best ever charity shop find.

If you need the DF rules they're available for free download at Specialist Games. :)

Does anyone know where the pedestrian rules were from – I haven't got the main rulebook to hand at the moment, so I'm not sure if they are in there or a WD, but I'm sure somewhere there were pedestrian rules. It'd be nice to have more than just the car warfare.

Norman D Landings13 May 2008 4:04 a.m. PST

I'm sure they were in a WD article…

WD 105, Page 77. It worries me that I can find that kind of thing out…

I'm impressed, EG.

My best find was back in 1985 -- I found an unopened, mint condition box set of Twilight 2000 for $1. USD I've still got it, and it's unopened.

Back in the 1980s before eBay, they were selling copies of Metamorphosis Alpha at gaming con conventions for up to $300 USD at action.
At an used book store, I found three of them in MINT condition. I bought them with used book credit.

Well done on the oldies but goddies find, and a blast from the past a copy of White Dwarf with a useful article in it.

If only such was today.

All of us retro-gamers have got to stick together LOL!

Nice one

Oh, how I hated that game. Any "car wars" rules where vehicles cannot make a 90 degree turn is a waste of trees.

The minis were pretty, though, which is more than you can say for the actual Car Wars figs.

Used to play this game endlessly as a youngster. Probably have most of the WD articles for it around, including the campaign and racing systems. Can I find the darn box with it all in though?

Nice find!
