Guys, A strange query but I got hold of some Elite miniatures French cannons second hand, very nice models. Only thing is I'm not sure if there 8 pounders or 12 pounders. If anyones got any of these could they tell me how long the barrel is? Many thanks, Simon

The 8pdr barrel is 44mm long (from end to end including the nobble but not including what appears to be flash).

The Elites are very fine guns but big compared to other lines.

Connoisseur guns look similar but are a tad smaller (both are very nice), but Elite's guns are the best sculpts, IMHO. Highly recommended! (as Hal used to say).

I agree, Fritz. Elite guns are good, accurate sculpts but do not mix type for type in the same army. My Elite 4lb dwarfs my Front Rank 6lb for the french…

Many thanks for the replies, the barrels on mine are about 36mm so guess they are 6 pounders! I like the fact they've actually got the N symbol cast on. Cheers, Simon

Those are diddy Simon. My 6pdr horse guns are 40mm+.

Are you sure those guns are Elite?

Simon Boulton14 May 2008 4:01 a.m. PST

I reckon they could be Connoisseur then, still nice models.
Cheers, Simon
