While primarily an ACW gamer, I'm making the jump into Napoleonics, which I thought I never would! After some consideration, I'd like to build a 15mm circa 1813 Prussian army using primarily Old Glory figures, taking advantage of their sale. How many unit/stands (bags) of the various types of infantry, cavalry, and artillery would I need for a basic or decent-sized army using Napoleon's Battles? (I'll probably use these rules.) Since I'm a total newbie in Napoleonics, I appreciate any help you all can give.

wellll ..prussian brigades which equals everyone elses division are composed primarily of a line rgt, a reserve rgt and a landwehr rgt. usually 4 brigades to a corps. you would also have some cavalry brigades and the artillery. in naps battles you would not have to do the artillery attached to the brigades just the reserve and cav batteries. that alone is alot. so with the line rgt it is about 20 to 24 figures, the reserve is the same and the landwehr varies from 16 to 24. there are schutzen/jager battalions but would be with a brigade. take a look at the second corp with the army of bohemia at leipzig. very standard with the cuirassiers thrown in as well. its a big corps so get your fingers ready.

16 Line, 16 Reserve and 16 Lanwehr per division as a base to start with and some larger line formations.

Suggestion is to use OG Inf then AB or Fantassin Cavalry who are slightly larger. Also the AB Blucher is superb!

Tally Ho!

ah and throw in some of those volunteer jager per regiment. one or two would suffice, breaks up all the blue. nick, you only use 16 per line rgt? then again i love to over stock. les

Wolfy, my Napleonics are all based for Napoleons Battles, origionally the Waterloo scenareo which is mainly 16 per Bde. I have bought quite a few AB units of 24 figs to give a bit of flexibility depending on the game. As for my 1806 Prussians I just have big Bdes to try to offset how crap they are!

Tally Ho!
